I thought i'd ask around and see what people's opinions are about this. When my dad was once very sick my mom rented him this movie called "Fight Club" my mom said he injoyed it and I decided to go look it up in my "Video Movie Guide 2001" book. The review it got was a turkey. Fast forward two years later and my brother watchs "Fight Club" and says it was good, then he buys the book and says the book was good as well. He said the movie was changed only a littie bit. I read the book and I thought it was good but I don't have time to rent the movie right now. The question is, My brother says so many people hate the movie but love the book and i'm kinda wondering why the movie is said to suck but my brother and dad enjoyed it. I'm just wondering really.

Fight Club is an amazing movie. I guess that's primarily because it's based off of an amazing book, but the movie is done so tremendously well, it almost establishes a new level of achievement for movies. I can understand why many people don't like it due to the numerous highly graphic moments (Norton's face bashed into the concrete and the splatter because of it, Norton destroying "Angel Face's" face, bullet in the cheek), and the radical ideas of Project Mayhem, but I think Fight Club is the best movie to have come out in the past 10 years. It is truly a monumental moment in film making.

The FIRST half of Fight Club is amazing -- a cutting commentary on the place of male aggression in a society which prefers to denigrate and demean it.

Then the second half mires itself mires itself in a guerilla attack on consumer culture, with a "twist" ending which adds not a whit to the proceedings.

Fight Club is by far one of the best films I have seen in my life.  Life changing, mind shaping and quite disturbing.  Dave, rent it.  Rent it ASAP.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

If you liked the book, what are you waiting for? I think TFC is one of the few examples you can find of a movie being superior to the adapted book. The changes are not that big, they focus mainly on the second half, but they work very well indeed. What else can I say? Fincher does an amazing work, and the cast is superb, specially Edward Norton.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

i saw the movie first in the theater and liked it. it turned me into an ed norton fan. bought the dvd (an awesome product). then i read the book...which you can read in like a day easy (as you know since you read it). the book is very similar and goes into more detail regarding the pranks the hooligans play on society. that's about the only difference.

the thing is that the book and the movie are almost dead on carbon copies story wise. but since the movie is so stylistic and well acted that both the book and the flick are nearly equally worthwhile time-wasters...and two different experiences...

Just watch it and judge for yourself. It really blew me away the first time. The second time the cracks started to show, but it's worth a vidy.

Havent read the book, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Edward Norton is the best actor of our time and The Pixies do some music for it too. Anyways, I must agree with Nathan and say the twist is not needed, bu fun nonetheless.

Oh yeah, Meatloaf has a bretty big role in the movie too.

Many people dont like Fight Club because they are confused at the ending of the story.

I think this movie could be viewed as many possable ways...

What I think is in the movie is that Edward Norton's character who has a hard time of sleeping has finaly fell asleep and had one of the most wildest dream ever... :D

Well..I guess I should try the movie since almost everyone here seems to have enjoyed it somewhat.

When they get to the part when they establish Poroject mayhem...STOP WATCHING THE DAMN MOVIE!

The other half is horrible, and shouldn´t in a ny righteous world exist.

This was the first movie with this type of violence to come out after Columbine, which is why it got so much flak in the theaters (wish I could quote the source, but I can't recall right now).

It's definitely a "check your penis at the door" GUY flick. I haven't come across a woman who has enjoyed it yet.
