Ah yes, I remember this film.  I really loved it as a kid and looking back, I think it still holds up as a very enjoyable kids' film.  Acting is decent, the story is fun, the effects were great for their time (Fun combination of real & CGI effects), and I think it is a okay adaption of the kid's book.  For those of you who have seen it and can remember it, what do you think?

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

Jumanji was one of the first movies I saw with a lot of CGI.  Aside the monkeys, I think it holds up nicely.  It is a wonderful adventure and keeps you going as to see what will come out of the board next.  Also, Williams was made for that role and hams it up nicely.  The ending was a bit goofy but I bought it simply due to the fact the previous hour and a half was a fun thrill ride.

I used to play this movie all the time for my nieces and nephews, to keep them occupied  :teddyr:
Fun flick that brings back memories though. I might have to pick up the Blu-ray, which will be released 06/28/11.

This was released when I was 11 or so.  As such I was the prime audience and man I loved it.  Life was good for a kid in the 90s with some great classics like Jumanji, Might Ducks etc breaking through.

Good times!

In particular it was an early example of good uses of CGI, where it seemed to blend seamlessly in with the action.

Ah. I remember this one. And yes, it is an entertaining film. Every once in a while I like Robin Williams, and this is one of those times.

However, the standout in this movie, in my opinion, is David Allen Grier.

I loved this movie, so did my boy.  He was 4 years old at the time and we bought the board game to play.  I was married at the time and the 3 of us sat on the living room floor to play.

Just before we rolled the dice, my son got scared and asked me if he would get sucked into the game.  I assured him that wouldn't happen because the movie was just pretend.

He was okay after that and we must have spent every night after dinner for weeks playing that game!

You mean none of those things actually happened? How disappointing. Actually, I'm romanticizing the events of Jumanji combined with Australia.

Speaking of which, my wife has a cousin in Australia who recently invited us to visit. I've always wanted to go and am quite excited at the prospect.

Yep, he was hilarious too.  I love the ongoing bit about his police car getting slowly dissected until it was useless.

Ah yes, Jumanji. A very nice Christmas movie to play. Sometimes I watch this while helping my mum bake Christmas cookies.
yeah no.

I just saw this one again recently, for the first time in many years - my five year old and ten year old thought it was hilarious, and I thought it held up very well too.

This movie is more fun than a barrel of CGI monkeys.

It's very funny, but it also has some suspenseful and heartwarming parts.  There was also an animated TV show in the 90's.  Does anyone remember that?

When I was a kid I loved this movie!!! Like absolutly loved it cause it had a more interesting story than most movies at the time.
