Was meandering through a used movie/music store the other day, and found the Shout Factory DVD of The Weird Al Show complete series for a steal, and I just couldn't pass it up. Watching it, though, I found it doesn't hold up to my memories. I honestly hadn't seen an episode since it originally aired way back when (although I still listen to the theme song periodically... and it always gets stuck in my head for DAYS). Very fun, very Pee-Wee's Playhouse-esque, but something about it feels undercooked.

I listened to the audio commentaries (this is a great DVD set, EVERY episode has a commentary with Weird Al and the show's producer and its director) and it cleared up a lot of things for me (namely, how network interference basically crippled the show at nearly every turn) and made me wistfully wonder what might have been. I still think the show is quite good, though, regardless. But, then, I'm just a big kid anyway.

Anyhoo, any other fans (or non-fans) out there? Wondering what you guys thought of this show.

I like it, for what it is. Considering the network interference Im a bit surprised that the Fred Huggins stuff made it in.
