I went with W.A.S.P., I had to. It's the meanest, dirtiest song on there and W.A.S.P. pretty much became the main target for the PMRC. Blackie Lawless isn't a stupid guy, he knew that it would stir up a hell of a lot of controversy writing a track like that and it worked like a charm. Sadly, W.A.S.P.'s career has pretty much been hampered by that song and their early stage theatrics, when they went onto do more serious and varied music toward the later 80s. They haven't even played Animal live since 2003...

I don't get the Twisted Sister song either, it's a tongue-in-cheek "rebel against authority" thing, with nothing remotely filthy about it.

The PMRC believed that the lyrics and video for "We're Not Gonna Take It" promoted "violence".

Flick James

I've heard very few of those songs, so I'm not voting. However I had a friend who wrote a song in the early 90's called "The PMRC Bop." He tried to make it as offensive as he could. The only thing I remember about the song was the first line:

"I'm gonna f*** your teenage daughter with my big black d***."

Yeah. That would have made a good South Park episode.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

Sister Grace

I'm only  heart-sickened that gg allin wasn't on the list....

I know I voted for W.A.S.P., but I really want to state that I think Madonna's "Dress You Up" is a fantastic song.

what a wasted effort all this was.

Just as a side-note:
Add a great dose of irony to it when you realize that Al and Tipper are ultra-liberals.

I believe that liberals see censorship as "un-American" and "against the First Amendment," but here they were ready to nanny the music industry. I'll never figure some people out...
