Kinda meh about 1995. Quite a few I have never seen, lots of faves that didn't make the top 20.

Flick James

I kinda like this one. Interesting in that it contains both Toy Story and Pocahontas, the first of the Pixar lot as well as the beginning of the end for the tradtional Disney animation features.

Others of note for me personally:

Jumanji: I still like this one
Seven: I know there are mixed feelings on this one, but I liked it
Crimson Tide: but I'm ex-Navy so I'm biased
Waterworld and Congo: come on, bad movie fans, two "so-bad-it's-good" movies in the top 20 gross? That's awesome.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

Dangerous Minds was one of my favourite films, I ended up bying the book and loving it.

I actually like most of those films.
I even have a little nostalga for Ave Ventura 2 becuase it was promted on Live and Kicking (I know none of you know what that is).

For me, Congo is the only real dud anoungst the films. Well, maybe Grumpier Old Men too.

Psycho Circus

I thought Waterworld was great.

The Burgomaster

Hmm . . . CASPER.  One of those movies that was probably pretty popular at the time but has become irrelevant over the years.  I admit I had a VHS copy.  But has anyone watched this movie or even thought about it in, say, the past 10 years?  I think not!

Me, but that's only because the Nostalgia Critic reviewed it 2 years back. Other than that...

Seems like a pretty good list and can't aruge with any of the top 10.  Like that Jumanji is pretty high up there.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

Mr. DS

I actually graduated high school the summer of that year.  Went to college right after in the fall.  It was a fun year where I began to find an identity.

Toy Story - I believe I saw opening day, still love it.
Jumanji - I saw in a second run theater, great and underrated film.
Batman Forever - Heh, I actually recall seeing this one way after the fact.  I kind of put it off and rightfully so.
Goldeneye  - I saw that film with my father in theater.  I owe all my Bond interest to him.

Notable 1995 movies not in the top 20:

12 MONKEYS
THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN (probably my favorite movie of the year)
DEAD MAN
SHOWGIRLS (!)

Nice to see GET SHORTY did well, though.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I have: Toy Story, Pocahontas,Golden Eye, Jumanji, and Casper. and seeing I was probably 0-1 something year old..... :teddyr:
yeah no.

Jack

Congo was the 16th highest grossing film that year?  Good grief, I always assumed that was some direct-to-video Sci-Fi Channel thing.

Bruce Cambell's cameo made it happen.

That was the only thing I enjoyed about Congo. The rest didn't do much for me.

I watched it not so long ago.  ABC Family sometimes shows it on the weekend.  Happened to catch it on a rare Sunday where I had no work.

01. $191,796,233 - Toy Story
Pretty good.

02. $184,031,112 - Batman Forever
s**t

03. $172,071,312 - Apollo 13
Had this been done documentary style, instead of suspense-style, it would have gone down much more easily.  Look, I already know they made it - it's historical fact.  So why in hell are you trying to hold me in suspense?

04. $141,579,773 - Pocahontas
s**t

05. $108,385,533 - Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
Never saw.

06. $106,429,941 - GoldenEye
My favorite Bond movie, and my favorite Bond.

07. $100,475,249 - Jumanji
Never saw.

08. $100,125,643 - Seven
No wonder the killer gets away with it, the cops can't even find him when he's standing in the middle of the police station drenched in blood!

09. $100,328,194 - Casper
Never saw.

10. $100,125,643 - Die Hard: With A Vengeance
Should have been called "Die Hardest", damn it!  Nowhere near as good as the first two.

11. $091,387,195 - Crimson Tide

12. $088,246,220 - Waterworld
AWESOME post-apoc flick!

13. $084,919,401 - Dangerous Minds
Generic troubled youth movie.

Never saw.

15. $081,057,016 - While You Were Sleeping
???

16. $081,022,101 - Congo
This movie had a serious case of the "who cares".  As in, "Who cares if nothing makes sense?  It's just an action movie about killer apes."  Well, I care, you jerks.
