The fact that THE WATERBOY made more than $160 million has convinced me there is no hope for humanity.

01. $216,540,909 - Saving Private Ryan (one of my all-time faves)
02. $201,578,182 - Armageddon (stupid movie but entertaining)

04. $162,798,565 - A Bug's Life (good stuff)
05. $161,491,646 - The Waterboy (this movie can suck it)
06. $144,156,605 - Doctor Dolittle (just when you thought Nutty Professor ended his career...)

11. $130,444,603 - Lethal Weapon 4 (I didn't even see 3)

I saw:

Saving Private Ryan
Armageddon
Doctor Dolittle
Rush Hour
Deep Impact
Godzilla
Patch Adams
The Truman Show
Mulan
The Prince of Egypt - Donit judge me ! It was on tv and I was bored.
The Rugrats Movie
The Mask of Zorro

Most of the films are alright.
But thats the problem. Other than 'Ryan and the blockbuster appeal of Armageddon, there's not much in this year.

01. $216,540,909 - Saving Private Ryan

The Normandy scene was good and the last battle was good, otherwise kind of a generic war movie.

02. $201,578,182 - Armageddon

It was okay once, but too dumb for even a second viewing.

03. $176,484,651 - There's Something About Mary

The dog is mauling the guy's testicles, that's so funny!  Wait, no it isn't.

04. $162,798,565 - A Bug's Life

I ... can't remember anything about this movie, except that I saw it.

05. $161,491,646 - The Waterboy

Never seen.  Adam Sandler.  No.

06. $144,156,605 - Doctor Dolittle

Never saw.

07. $141,186,864 - Rush Hour

Never saw.  Chris Tucker.  No.

08. $140,464,664 - Deep Impact

Never saw.  Seemed to maudlin.

09. $136,314,294 - Godzilla

Ok, we showed the monster for a couple of minutes, now let's have an hour or so of romantic comedy.  Then, I guess, maybe we'll show the monster again.  Except now we're really hung up on the comedy, so we'll have it do pratfalls while chasing a taxi cab, which it can't catch even though it can run 180mph, and can't destroy with its bite even though it was crushing attack choppers with its teeth earlier.  And, for God's sake, make sure every line of dialogue is a hilarious quip!  Damn, this movie sucks.

10. $135,026,902 - Patch Adams

NO.

11. $130,444,603 - Lethal Weapon 4

The magic was gone two movies ago.

12. $125,618,201 - The Truman Show

A huge strain on the old suspension of disbelief.  Not half bad, not half good either.

13. $120,620,254 - Mulan

A Disney movie from the 90s?  No.

14. $115,821,495 - You've Got Mail

Never seen.  Meg Ryan.  Tom Hanks.  No.

15. $111,549,836 - Enemy of the State

Pretty good.

16. $101,413,188 - The Prince of Egypt

Never seen.

17. $100,494,675 - The Rugrats Movie

Never seen.

18. $100,317,794 - Shakespeare in Love

Maybe if somebody paid me to watch it.

19. $094,095,523 - The Mask of Zorro

Meh.  It was ok, I guess.

20. $091,137,662 - Stepmom

Don't think I've ever even heard of it.

Mr. DS

I saw Saving Private Ryan in the theater but none others.  Matter of fact I don't think I've seen any film on that list other than SPR.

02. $201,578,182 - Armageddon - tripe, except for Steve Buscemi
03. $176,484,651 - There's Something About Mary - overrated
04. $162,798,565 - A Bug's Life - not interested
05. $161,491,646 - The Waterboy - reviewed it for the school paper, think I have it 2.5/5 stars at the time
06. $144,156,605 - Doctor Dolittle - not very good
07. $141,186,864 - Rush Hour - not good, but entertaining enough
08. $140,464,664 - Deep Impact - reviewed this one too, at least it was better than Armageddon
09. $136,314,294 - Godzilla - meh, can't trump a classic
10. $135,026,902 - Patch Adams - not interested

12. $125,618,201 - The Truman Show - see below

14. $115,821,495 - You've Got Mail - not interested

16. $101,413,188 - The Prince of Egypt - not interested
17. $100,494,675 - The Rugrats Movie - definitely wasn't interested
18. $100,317,794 - Shakespeare in Love - not the worst chick flick I've ever seen
19. $094,095,523 - The Mask of Zorro - another reviewed movie, had a serious teenage crush on Zeta for a while afterward...
20. $091,137,662 - Stepmom - not interested

The Truman Show was a movie I wasn't interested in seeing at the time based on the commercials, and I saw it a couple years back and it's not at all what they marketed.  It's a lot darker than I would have imagined, in a good way.

Psycho Circus

Patch Adams has to be the most painfully unfunny film I have ever seen.

DOMESTIC GROSSES #1–20

01. $216,540,909 - Saving Private Ryan - pretty intense war film. Has some truly great moments.
02. $201,578,182 - Armageddon - absolute garbage. Just an FX show full of wasted, unneccessary stars.
03. $176,484,651 - There's Something About Mary - I have to admit I really liked it at the time. Doesn't hold up so well to repeat viewings though.
04. $162,798,565 - A Bug's Life - pretty darn good.
05. $161,491,646 - The Waterboy - I regret not walking out of the theater and demanding a refund on this one. I really should have - painfully bad.

07. $141,186,864 - Rush Hour - O.K. but overrated.

09. $136,314,294 - Godzilla - hugely disappointing as it just wasn't Godzilla. Not really...
10. $135,026,902 - Patch Adams - Haven't seen.

11. $130,444,603 - Lethal Weapon 4 - O.K. Decent enough I guess.
