Okay, everyone thinks I'm crazy...  I'm 24 now, but when I was little probably about 7, I watch this movie about a school in a world where it was always raining.  The characters were children in a school/orphanage and they were getting ready for the day when the sun would finally come out, this was a very rare event... The main character was a little girl who was teased by the other children and somehow on this one sunny day, she was locked in school and had to watch all the other children go play without her in the sun.

Please Help, if anyone knows this, or it even sounds familiar PLEASE write me!!

Hmmm

I do not remember the name of this, however, it is based on a Ray Bradbury short story. I believe he co wrote the script, so  I reccomend typing his name into imdb.com and see if you can find it. If not look on Amazon for all of the Ray Bradbury short stories I believe it has Venus in the title.

Might have been a Ray Bradbury story if I'm not mistaken.  I remember reading this story while in grade school.  Maybe it was an episode of the twilight zone, something of that nature.

If it's the story I'm thinking of she was actually locked in the closet, and was crying....I think.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

She WAS locked in a closet, and by the time she got out, the rain had come back...

I am sooo happy someone vaguely knows what I'm talking about, I've searched Ray Bradbury, haven't found anything yet, but if I do I'll post it.

Thank you, if anyone knows the name of it, please still write! :)

Rebecca

That's it!!  I'm so excited, I really was beginning to think I imagined it, because I watched it when I was about 4 or 5!

Thank you very much!!

my name's william and the person who locked the girl in the closet in the movie's name was william too, and i remember a classmate looking at me and saying 'that was mean!' as if i had something to do with it.  i know i was in fourth grade, but that's still a stupid thing to say.

apparently living on venus is a lot like living on the east coast this year.

I suppose little was known about Venus when Bradbury wrote the story. It's similar in size to Earth, but entirely shrouded by clouds. I could see someone imagining it was just a rainy Earth. If that were the case, the overcast would probably compensate for the closeness to the sun in terms of temperature.

Knowing what we no know, it seems a little ridiculous, but it wouldn't have been such a big stretch a few decades ago.

excerpt of article:
"Then again, they probably don't know this story, the one about the little boy who lived on Venus, where the weather was easily forecast.

Rain today, rain tomorrow, rain forever.

It's All Summer in a Day and can be found in Bradbury's collection of short stories A Medicine for Melancholy first published in 1959. "

By the way . . . every seen Hitchcock's Rebecca? Steve Walsh (Kansas) just did a song on his new solo album based on this movie, was great (both song & flic).

Rebecca

I have seen Rebecca, it's one of my favorites!   Thankfully, I don't identify with the title character.

Thanks for all the input, it was very helpful.  I read some people saw it in school, well, I went to catholic school, so that was not on the curriculum (sp?)... but my mom does remember watching with me in the room when I was 4!!

Now, one last thing... has anyone seen anywhere to purchase it?

Thanks again!  :)

Was All Summer in a Day ever made into an episode of any anthology series? I could swear I saw it aired on the SciFI channel a few years ago as part of some series.
