Never burned music to a DVD-R, just plain old CD-R's.

If the CD-R has already been "used" then you can't add more to the disc, or erase what's already there. For that you'd need a CD-RW (rewriteable).

Keep in mind, however that CD-RW's are not compatible with all CD players/stereo systems.

I just use Audacity to record it from youtube or some other streaming site.

I've also used it to make my own versions of songs that I think need some rearranging.

I use iTunes for ease sake, then it gives you a burn to CD option.  My car now has an MP3 plater plugin, so I do nt do that much anymore.  Just plug and go.

Killer Bees

I used to buy all my CDs.  When I bought an iPod, I loaded them all and put original discs in a cupboard.

Now I buy individual songs from iTunes.   I still buy the original CDs from my favourite artists, but for people like, say, Lady Gaga, I couldn't stomach all the music, so the odd song here and there is enough.

Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine
Heal what has been hurt
Change the fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine
What once was mine.......

I download my music from Amazon, it's about 99 cents a song.  I've got the PlayStation 3 hooked up to the entertainment center, so I copy the music from the computer onto a USB stick and then take that downstairs and copy it onto the PS3.  Kind of nice, because instead of having to dig through my CD collection and change disks, it all just comes up on a nice menu.

If you wanted to burn it to a CD, I'd probably just use Windows Media Player.  The CD-R's can only be written to once.  If you want to put something on a disk and then later put something else on it, you'll need a CD-RW or DVD-RW, like Freddy said.  There are also DVD+RW's, which offer more editing option if you're recording movies onto them.

I don't know if you know or not, but from the way you put that question I feel like pointing out that downloading music, and burning music onto CD are 2 completely different things(!)

like Jack I download from amazon a lot. usually single tracks but sometimes whole albums because they usually do a discount price if you buy a whole album at once. If you download more than one track at a time you need the amazon downloader installed which is pretty simple and they tell you how to use it etc...

I supose what Jack said really... If you've got Windows Media Player then as long as the files(songs or whatever) are on your computer you can stick a blank CD into your drive, open Windows Media Player, click on the 'burn' icon (which should be somewhere easy to find), drag the song files into the 'burn list' then click on 'start burn'.

older versions of Windows Media Player may be different but it will be the same kind of thing...

Jack

Yeah, once you've gone into Windows Media Player you may have to go into File > Add To Library and it will scan your computer for any media files.  Then just hit "burn" and you drag and drop whatever you want to put on the CD over to the right side of the screen, then hit "start burn" at the bottom of the screen when you're ready.
