Hey, another shark film.  What does that make it?  Number 342 give or take?  Seriously, we have an extreme over abundance in these shark films.  Can't we see some other killer sea creatures?  How about killer crabs or jellyfish?  I don't we have tapped the potential for any of those type of fishy movies.

Anyhow, this film was directed by David R. Ellis, the guy behind Final Destination 2 and Snakes on a Plane, so you know, quality.  Even so, I can spot a problem with this film automatically, even though I haven't seen it.  It's PG-13.  This is the kind of film, especially from how the trailers presented it, that needs a R rating behind it (kind of like Sucker Punch).  I mean seriously, it looks like it is trying to be Piranha 3D, but only tamer, which misses the point of what made Piranha so memorable and enjoyable.  It was so over the top that it was almost hilarous.  Of course, that is how I see it.

Well maybe I'm wrong.  Maybe it'll be a huge hit and set the world on fire *Insert laughter here*, but I doubt it.  I'll see this later when it gets a proper unrated cut.  Anyhow, if you see it, care to comment on it.  As for me, I'm going to keep my eyes on the more ridicious shark prize, Bait, coming later.

I got bored of this halfway through

- halfway through the trailer that is

what's the point? Jaws is and will forever be THE shark movie of all time

I guess this is supposed to be Piranha 3D for the under-18 crowd.

That or an amped up SyFy original movie.  I just got back from seeing it, and its really a horror movie with out much bite.  (waits for groans to stop).

The acting wasn't terrible, but no one stood out either.  There are some pretty obivious plot holes, like the one where sombody whose mortally injured is able to fight a few moments later.  The CGI was nothing terrible except in one or two places.  (Actually, during the opening credits, I swear there is a scene from Deep Blue Sea.  Which aside from Jaws is the only other shark movie worth its price.)

Plot was cliche.

Really the only thing that made this viewing experience worth while was all the people in the theater reacting to the few moments of real tension the movie had-few as they were.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

How ironic!  Some of the people who worked on the animatronic shark effects in Deep Blue Sea had worked here in this film.

The movie is a steaming pile of s**t. The only good thing about this movie was going with a group of comedian friends ready to make each other laugh. Since it was a Friday AM Matinee show there was all of 10 people in the theater, so it was good to know we could be where we weren't annoying anyone around us (as there was no one around us).

I agree that I'm 99% sure that the Deep Blue Sea shark is in the beginning, which was a dumb idea since those sharks looked better than these unrendered CGI images.

The villains were probably the most likable people in the whole movie.

This seems like it could have had potential for a fun bad movie night at the theater. Doesn't look like that happened though.

Let's not forget that JAWS, the greatest shark movie ever, was rated PG.  It would never get a PG rating by today's standards, but it's still a PG.  And it's great.

Very true, but the way the trailer presented the movie made it look like it should go for that R rating.  The only reason it probably got a PG-13 was because it could now be edited for TV and shown during Shark Week.

Oh hell yeah!  That's awesome, but how do make them more quicker so they don't end like the Creeping Terror?
