Assassin bug

The kids caught the biggest assassin bug I have ever seen.  It is 1.5 inches long and just massive (for a bug).  The kids also caught a praying mantis and placed it in the same bug cage.  The monstrous thing killed and ate the praying mantis. 

Mean little critter.

You should have filmed it and then made an entire horror movie using the footage.

You gotta love assassin bugs.

Some species will camouflage themselves from their prey with bits and pieces of previous kills. Imagine being attacked by a monster wearing your buddy's head for a hat.
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Assassin Bugs and Zombie Bugs are the two most f'ed up bugs, But I love them! So bizarre yet beautiful.
