I cooked it yesterday. Actually, a pretty simple recipe, although it takes time to prepare.

Obviously it would be a bit insane to eat an entire one of these in one sitting (two pounds of bacon, two pounds of sausage). The way it ended up being served at Thanksgiving was in slices, often cutting up those slices for finger sized portions and then serving as an appetizer. With the barbecue sauce, it really reminded me off those little cocktail weenies you see served with toothpicks.

There were only five adults and two children at that dinner, so I still have a lot left. No problem, reheat and eat with a biscuit.

If you like sausage and bacon, it's worth trying out. I would recommend you leave out the barbecue sauce, unless you really like it. I don't think the dish needs it. However, there are easier ways to cook sausage and bacon. While this dish is quite dramatic in presentation, it isn't that much different in flavor from just smoked bacon and sausage.

Bon appetit!
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

My mouth started to water when I looked at that picture. I'm a bit of a carnivore.

My heart hurts just looking at that thing...

They should have an eating competition using this dish. Get those dudes who always take part in the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest every July 4th and see if they can keep one of THESE down.
Thats cruel! But yeah...I'd like to see that too. Hosted by Alton Brown and Guy Fieari.
