So there's a grass fire by my place

I may be evacuated tonight because there's a large grass fire west of where I'm staying. It sounds like they may  have it under control, but it's hard to find any information beyond reminders that we're on evacuation alert, to stay inside, etc. If something happens, I'll be gone for probably at least a couple of days. If nothing does, I'll post tomorrow morning after staying up pretty much all night watching and listening for any hints that it's gotten out of control again.

UPDATE: we just got confirmation that the fire threatening my part of the city has been contained and the highways have been reopened. I'm still going to watch all the relevant twitter and other online feeds for a few hours just to be safe and I'm not unpacking until tomorrow morning at the earliest. This is still a very dry area and we're still seeing some pretty strong winds (not as strong as earlier today; I'll take 80 km/h over 107 any day), so there's still the risk of one of the six fires getting out of control again.

Good luck, I hope you won't be evacuated.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I saw that on the news this morning.  Good heavens, it looked scary.  :buggedout:  I hope they have kept it under control enough that you were able to get some sleep!

We haven't been on evac alert for since last night, and the city's Twitter feed updated to say that one fire is out and the other areas are being monitored. We even have extra fire crews out there today to make sure things don't get as dangerous as they were yesterday. Right now the wind's on their side, too, with just a gentle breeze.

I'm glad you're okay....we had a pretty bad bunch of grassfires here in Texas earlier in the summer. They got very close to where I was working....that one had 24 different departments called to it.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.
