Movies you underestimated by their trailer

I for one thought Zombieland was going to suck when I saw the trailer; I was very very wrong. Anyone else have a movie like that?

Moneyball.  Of course i have to admit that i was initially skeptical about the film being made as the book came out like 10 yrs ago and although Jonah Hill played.... Jonah Hill it was a good movie imo.

Sherlock Holmes.  The trailer I saw looked like it was trying to say "Sherlock Holmes is cool now because he is on crack."  The fact that Downey Jr. was in it didn't exactly help my opinion either.  I can't remember how I got corralled into seeing the movie, but I was glad I did.  I loved it!  It reminded me so much of the old Wild Wild West TV series, which I really enjoy.  Now I can't wait for the next Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes film.

The t.v. promos and trailers did not at all make it look like a good, funny, engaging movie. I remember seeing them as a kid and thinking it looked like a stupid movie. Then I saw it on cable and, even as a kid, realized it was gold. But it's weird, it was like there was no way of making a promo for that movie that made it look like an entertaining movie. The promos were basically clips of many of the one-liner jokes that a peppered throughout the movie, and in a trailer they did not work in the slightest, but in the context of the movie they were hysterical.

Not only have I never seen it, I have no plans to.  I'm not boycotting it or anything, it just isn't on my "to see" list.

Well, I hate it when people tell me I have to see something, so I won't do that to you. Besides, you're a confident individual who is going to do invest your time in what is valuable to you. I was just surprised, given your wide and generally solid tastes (as I have noted at least), that you had not seen it or would consider it a "hands off" item. If it's a Dudley Moore thing, I can understand that, but I do think you should consider giving it a whirl. It's a classic and pretty damn funny actually.
