Just seen John Carpenters VAMPIRES: LOS MUERTOS (2002) and really enjoyed it. The film stars Jon Bon Jovi believe it or not. The idea of Vampires South of the border is a neat combination.

For as much critisism John Carpenters getting for his latest films I have enjoyed his last three. VAMPIRES, GHOST OF MARS, VAMPIRES: LOS MUERTOS. These films will have a lasting presence 20 years from now. Anyone agree?

Tommy Lee Wallace strikes again.  His sequel to Vampires lacks the slam-bang opening, it just goes to the lackluster stuff from the get go.  Didn't hold my interest, besides vampires as a subject bore me.  I agree with David J. Schow that they have become the Star Trek of the horror genre.

Vampires was the dumbest peice of s**t I've seen in a long time, carptenter should be humiliated for making that piece of s**t.

it was bad and bad all over again every 5 minutes, the 'expert vampire hunters' acted like a bunch of little pussies when they killed the vampire in the begining, and after it died they acted all great and these are EXPERT vampire hunters? Come on!

the whole super vampire that couldnt be killed was dumb I stopped watching this s**t after 35 minutes because I couldnt stand it. Carpenter is losing his touch, big time

Gosts of Mars was HORRIBLE!!!  It's good to laugh at with your friends though.  Those sounds that the monster people make are pretty funny.

I liked watching Vampires, but that is justt cuz I like the actor James Woods. It was a neat idea that could have been much better. A real good one is Dracula 2000

"Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it."

I liked the first "Vampires", I think it is the best film of his late career. Not much willing to watch the second one, mainly because of Carpenter not directing this time amd, of course, of Jon Bon Jovi. To quote a film magazine, "He is the one who really looks undead in this one".

Didn't like "Ghosts of Mars" either.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Evan3, I seen Dracula 2000, but didn't like it that much, but I did like the interesting theory behind Dracula and Chirst alot. That was the best part of the movie.

I enjoyed Vampires but I thought Ghosts of Mars and Los Muertos were both rather lackluster, they are mildly entertaining.

Just seen it. Not as bad as I expected, but as it uses to happen all the charm of the first title is gone. Neither the cast, the filmmaking or the script managed to involve me in the movie. I didn't get bored, though.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

having not seen any of these films, one would suspect that i should just shut up and not voice an opinion, but i can't imagine any of these films will have a lasting impact in the next 20 years, purely on the fact that so many people hated them [for different reasons i'm sure]

although i want to see ghosts of mars, i've actually heard some good stuff about it, but it bombed at the box office here.

another point to remember is that many of the current vampire films seem to be losing their charm; each time one is released it automatically 1. gets compared to other vampire films and subsequently not allowed to shine on its own and 2. is automatically thought to be a rip off and then casually dismissed by many movie goers

its a shame when many good movies pass on unnoticed purely because they star 'so and so', and is directed by 'whoever'  and recieve crappy reviews because of smart ass critics who want to sound knowledgeable by dragging down a movie based on the idea rather than the film itself

Hear are my favorite vampire movies

Horror of Dracula
Dracula 1972
The  Return of Count Yorga
Near Dark

speaking of salems lot, my friend auditioned for a part in the new mini series that they filmed here recently, he didn't, thank god, [he's really not that good]  but it has donald sutherland and rob lowe in it.

hope its good

Being a vampire lover (books and movies) i feel i must share this with you...
I HATED CARPENTER'S VAMPIRES almost as much as the BLADE movies.
I'm sorry if someone likes them but i think that they're not even good enough to be called crap. The "Vampire" one was a joke (and a bad one) and Blade... i simply couldn't stand it (i stopped it after the first half hour). I don't believe any vampire fan likes it. If you're into horror and the vampire character is just another "monter", yeah, see these s**tty films, they were made for you.
If not, skip them all toguether - and if you already know interview with the vampire's lines by heart, why not try dracula 2000 or dracula II? I agree they're not perfect, but they're not bad either AND there's a plot behind them AND the vampire has more than one dimension to it. So, just give it a go, you know you want to.

Scott,

I enjoyed "Vampires", "Vampires: Los Meurtos" and "Ghosts Of Mars" but I thought Los Muertos was the weakest of the three.  Didn't have quite the same energy as  the first one and I seem to recall that the ending was not quite as dramatic.

FWIW, I also like "Dracula 2000", about the only vampire movie I've seen recently that I didn't like was "The Forsaken"
