Tom Berenger plays Irishman John Riley during the Mexican-American 1840's  war in a film called ONE MAN'S HERO (1999). Interesting story of Irish immigrants who are offered citizenship for service in  the U.S. Military and are mistreated for their Catholic beliefs that is also the religious faith of Mexico. Riley and his men desert (escape) from the U.S. military and join the Mexican military. Not the best in action, but good enough for a good historical drama. Encore Western Channel showed this one tonight.

hey scott, our resident western fanatic, have you ever seen The Hired Hand with peter fonda? It's a drama type western where the limited action occurs at the end. a guy goes back to work as a hired hand for his wife that he left 7 years earlier. then something happens to a friend of his and he goes out seeking revenge. kinda off-beat, definitely well done and engaging.

Thanks Mr. Henry. THE HIRED HAND sounds like a winner and FACE TO FACE. I'll be adding both to my list.

Peter Fonda did a neat little film called WILD ANGELS. I really liked this one as well as EASY RIDER.
