If you liked this film, you will probably like ABSENTIA, another low budget horror masterpiece I saw recently.  Glad for all the positive feedback on this one!  I'm still recommending it to random strangers when I go to Hasting's! :teddyr:

After reading this, "Grave Encounters" became one of the movies I most anticipated this year (the full list contains all of two movies, so that's quite the accomplishment)

Because the best horror flicks are usually independently produced (these days), thus being short on promotion its important to spread the word whenever one is found.

Thank you, Indy

Now, as for "Grave Encounters" itself, just before viewing it, unfortunately I strained a back muscle, thus I probably would've enjoyed it somewhat more without the agony, but anyways...

The guys, when posing while announcing the lead-in in the building, looked exactly like crew from a real "Ghost Hunters"-type show. It's uncanny. My concerns about atmosphere being ruined by too much happening onscreen proved unfounded. No cheap shocks (jump "scares", meaningless excessive gore) either IIRC. Quite scary during the first half especially.
