This is a spin-off of the other TV show thread . . .

These are memorable Saturday morning shows from when I was a kid (as you can see, I was a child of the 60s & 70s)

* LANCELOT LINK, SECRET CHIMP

* H.R. PUF 'N' STUF

* THE MONKEES

* LIDSVILLE

* THE BUGALOOS

* RUNAROUND (with Paul Winchell)

* THE DOUBLE DECKERS (a British kids' show that was shown in the U.S. - I actually had a DOUBLE DECKERS lunchbox when I was a kid)

* SCOOBY DOO, WHERE ARE YOU? (I only liked the first few seasons, before they introduced Srappy Doo and Scooby Dum)

* SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS

* THE GROOVY GHOULIES

* LAND OF THE LOST (the original version)

And of course, the greatest SUNDAY morning shows:

* GUMBY

* DAVEY & GOLIATH (it took me a while to realize that this was a religious show with a message)

Well, if you are going to mention SHAZAAM, you can't forget ISIS ("Oh mighty Isis!")

And what about THE BANANA SPLITS (featuring the "Danger Island" segment, starring young Jan-Michael Vincent).

There was also:

* THE HUDSON BROTHERS SHOW

* THE WACKY RACERS (with Dick Dastardly and Penelope Pitstop)

* FUNKY PHANTOM (which was basically a Scooby Doo rip-off)

* THE CLUE CLUB (another Scooby Doo rip-off)

* GOOBER AND THE GHOST CHASERS (another Scooby Doo rip-off . . . are you starting to see the trend here?)

* THE NEW ADVENTURES OF GILLIGAN (animated)

* WILL THE REAL JERRY LEWIS PLEASE SIT DOWN? (animated, with David L. Lander, aka "Squiggy" from LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY, providing the voice of Jerry Lewis).

* JAMBO (which was a live-action show that took place in Africa. I still remember the theme song: "Jambo, jambo, means 'hello' in a happy kind of an African way . . . ")

* THE FAR-OUT SPACE NUTS

* THE LOST SAUCER

* THE BRADY KIDS (animated)

* KID POWER (animated, about kids of all races and colors learning valuable lessons about life)

* THE HAIR BEAR BUNCH (animated bears with afros and hippie clothes)

* ARCHIE'S TV FUNNIES

Oh, to have those golden days back!

While my memory of seeing shows on television when I was a little kid has escaped me for some time, I do remember watching the animated show THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS. Again, I have nothing but fond memories of it.

I still have a tape of some of the episodes, which also has some really cheesy kids commericals on it as well. I might pop it in and take a look at it as it's been a while.

I think most of these shows are before my time, I'm a kid of the late 80's.

Scooby Doo and Josie and the p***ycats, and David and Goliath on Sundays.

Brian Ringler

"* THE WACKY RACERS (with Dick Dastardly and Penelope Pitstop)"

There is a japanese 3 disc release of all the episodes...if thats not a reason to own a multi region dvd I don't know what is

BlackAngel

Some of the stuff I remember:

Galaxy High

Mighty Orbots

Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Roll Wrestling

Smurfs

Snorks

Muppet Babies

Anyone remember the "Lazer Tag" cartoon?

I wanted the actual Laser Tag gun setup so bad when I was a kid but I never had enough money and my parents thought it was too expensive to buy.

I also loved "Dungeons & Dragons" and "Spider Man & His Amazing Friends" on Saturday mornings.

The Real Ghostbusters :
The first couple of seasons of this were pure genious...they killed it when it became "Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters" though, where they had that 10 minute cartoon with just slimer and s**tty animation...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
The original series was really good, til the last season where they could "mutate" into giant turtles that fought like Power Rangers zoids or something...

X-Men:
The original cartoon that came on Fox... not that X-Men: Evolution garbage...

Spider Man:
Also came on Fox, great show til it ended and then they got Spider Man: Unlimited or something... he was on some planet where the people were animals/humans or something... lame

Man, they killed a lot of Saturday morning cartoons... killing a cartoon should be a crime.

BlackAngel

I really didn't like that Spider-Man.  The fight scenes are nothing more than just shoulder blocks, missed punches,  kicks, and gunfire.  The only thing that connect is Spider-Man's webs on someone's face.

Uncle Fester

How bout Johnny Quest: Monsters,Aliens,Gunplay,just like an animated B movie!No sexy females thou,but that weird Race+Dr.Quest thing?

JohnL

Space Academy

Jason of Star Command

Skatebirds - Like Banana Splits, even had a live action segment called (I think) Mysterious Island) with a redesigned Lost in Space robot. Never finished as I recall.

You are mistaken, only the animation is garbage for the new X Men series. The story is actually well done and includes more characters than I think the Fox edition ever had. What really annoys me is how they dont put out the old Fox X Men in chronological order, but plop a few on a DVD at random.

Yes, it was lame, it was based on the lame comic Spider Man 2099. But, the new Spider Man series, is on MTV, havent seen it enough to make a judgement.

I will agree on a whole that during the age of 13, was the peak of great cartoons.

Captain Planet
Animaniacs (Pinky and the Brain too).
The Tick
Tiny Toon Adventures
Rocko's Modern Life
Life with Louie
Spider Man and the X-Men

and even when I was a real kid they had Thundercats and He Man.

Now I look, and there is just so much crap with the exception of X men, Dexters Lab, Jackie Chan, and Samurai Jack.
