Why do all those "enter your date of birth" things with the pull-down menus have the current year listed?  As if somebody 5 months old is going to be filling it out.

It's a headache trying to get government to fix their mistaken dates for things. My parents wedding date they somehow screwed up and despite numerous efforts to get things fixed, they just keep getting things returned with the same mistaken date or even worse mistakes over and over again, once it said they were married before they were even born?! I know someone else who could not convince the government he wasn't born 4 months before he was to the point he just gave in and went along with them...

Ulysses Grant simply changed his name when the government got it wrong.

The headline in the newspaper says that the average cost of raising a  child is $235,000.  I could have had one of these:



And still had 45 grand left over, which would have probably covered 6 months worth of insurance on it.

Oh well, I guess an old fart like me would look kind of silly getting out of one of those things
