I had a similar problem when I quit Facebook in 2009. I was told not to go near Facebook for some weeks. If I did my account wouldn't expire, or something like that. So I steered clear from Facebook for a couple of months. My account was terminated after that.

Alan and I finally successfully quit Facebook.....I think they don't want people to quit to keep their member numbers high. But we found it pointless.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

I don't think not logging into Facebook for a really long time automatically deletes the account because I'm still facebook friends with a friend of mine who passed away a few years back. I think you have to do something with your settings.

never opened a facebook account, never will. e-mail does me fine. occasionally I will click a link that requires a 'facebook login' to access the content, but apart from that I don't feel like I've missed out.

last week a friend came to see me and wanted to show me photos from his round the world trip so I reluctantly let him log into his facebook account on my computer. I'm no conspiracy nut, but I'm still suspicious that facebook might now have details about me/my computer simply from that one login, even though it was my friend's account.

I mainly use it to keep in touch with old friends mainly through their groups, some I met on other message boards a long time back. Other than that, it's mostly just other people's drama.

One thing I hate about Facebook is that like buttons are everywhere on the internet. Even porn sites have them! (or so I've Heard). and with most people having family as Facebook friends that sure is gonna make a whole lot of awkward.

I have a FB page and like RC, I tried to cancel it but no go.

It's really only there so people who knew or know me can get in contact and friend me if they want to.

I'm Trevor Moses there: look for a pic of a guy with his one hand up Kermit's bum  :buggedout: and his arm around a lovely lady (my special sister, in case anyone's wondering)  :teddyr:.

I'm so sick of all those Facebook and Twitter buttons on every page on the net.

I think what I hate most about Facebook is all these people with 100+ friends - as if anybody actually "cares" about that many people.  It's just so fake and shallow.

Jack...what's wrong with 100+ friends?

I have 87, which includes people off here, some family and around 25 people I regular see in town. I think the people with 500-5000 friends are much worse Jack.

While I have some old friends and family and extended family on FB, the ones I find I interact with most are people from here and from other sites I've visited for years before I was a regular here. To me, it's cool to now be able to talk to Happy on there from time to time as well as any of the other regulars from here.
