My quickie review: An assassin specializes in killing victims who are sent backwards in time for extermination, but things get complicated when his latest assignment involves eradicating a future version of himself. Like most time travel movies, it relies on some questionable contrivances, but it's still a tightly plotted and worthy entry in the subgenre. 4/5.

I won't discuss spoilers, you should see it for yourself. Joseph Gordon Levitt and Brice Willis are both very good as the young and old versions of the same man. There's a lot of action. If you're interested in time travel movies it's a must-see; for general science fiction or action fans it's something you'll want to see. It stands a good chance of ending up on my top 10 movies of the year.

I also enjoyed this one and, in fact, I'd also give it an 8/10.  Some really good performances, well-shot, some good character development - probably the best sci-fi film of the year.

I managed to find some time to see this in recent weeks.  The trailer made me assume that it would be an action popcorn movie, but it is much darker and more disturbing than the trailer suggests.  I cringed when my mind reached the logical conclusions about how runaway Loopers were 'encouraged' to return to the boss.  Ugh.  I also found it quite mind numbing to realize that there were two separate 'time streams' happening: one where he is shot by his past self, one where he is not.

I enjoyed it a lot but it's not going to be a movie that I will watch over and over again, like some others.  Quite amazing work for only a third movie, too, with an A-list cast and great direction.

I was a little disappointed in Looper.
It started out great, but then turned into a completely different movie than what I was expecting. (sci-fi action)  It's definitely one I'm going to have to watch again.  Maybe I'll like it better the second time around.  2.5/5

I've looked at it on Amazon Instant Video.  I think my wife vetoed it last time.  It sounds like a good watch for when in the mood for something a little darker.

Professor Hathaway:  I noticed you stopped stuttering.
Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.
