I bought this movie along with"Highlander"and I watched it last weekend, and I loved it!

Kurt Russell is great as the badass Snake Plissken,Lee Van Cleef plays well his part and Ernest Borginine was a riot!

John Carpenter is a genius.

What do you think?

It's pretty good.

Some of the special effects look dated and the music....uh well I've never been a big fan of John Carpenter's self composed keyboard music.

I love this movie to death! But when I last viewed it 2 years ago, it was a different experience as I had remembered it from when I was a kid. Not bad or anything; just different. Didn't help that my dad watched it with me; he'd never seen it and though Kurt Russell was way too wimpy to be playing Snake. I always though Kurt was an interesting choice because he was still quite young with his baby face. My dad just tore the movie apart for me. I also liked Lee Van Cleef in this as well; Harry Dean Stanton too.

MGM, now becoming the master of releasing cult flicks on DVD, is going to release ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK as a 'Special Edition'. I expect an audio commentary featuring John Carpenter and Kurt Russell.

It's scheduled for December; kind of an unusual date for a down-n'-dirty action/sci-fi flick.

Awesome! I'm definitely going to have to buy it!!

Oh, sure they look. However, I like the look of matte paintings and miniatures. I think the effects are pretty good on the scene Snake flies over Manhattan, but certainly the plane falling from that building later on the movie stinks.

But well, I even like the FX on "Escape from LA". Believe it or not, I just love the surreal look of miniatures combined with poor CGI.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Sorry, I just watched "Godzilla Versus Monster Zero"...

Tranquil Featherman

A true Classic.
I' mean, ya got Issac Hayes as that crazy pimp underground leader!!! Donald Pleasance playing Prez.!! only he kinda acts the same way in everything he's in.
Kurt Russel probably ate thousands of throat lozenges just for the part of Snake.

Robot Roll Call: (Come on, let's go)
Cambot (Pan left)
Gypsy (Hi girl)
Tom Servo (What a cool guy)
Croooow! (You little wisecracker)

What's really fun is trying to think up lyrics to the theme song.

The Burgomaster

This is a fun movie, but I wish it had a bit more "escaping" in it, and a bit less comedy. And Donald Pleasence was a terrible choice to play the President of the U.S. (with a British accent!)

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Flangepart

Hey, in an "Alternate" reality like that one, i'll buy it.
Oh! Look to the comic shops for the Snake Plisskin comic book, by Hurricane press. Yas might just like it.

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"
