And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Thank goodness They're getting him away from Star Trek

Oh I SO agree!

As for Star Wars...while the thought makes me cringe...he cannot do much more damage than has already been done.  So I suppose my trepidation is more along the line of how 'humane' this treatment of another beloved franchise is.  Results will tell if it is a resurrection or simply prolonging the agony.

He can't possibly screw things up any worse than Lucas himself has done over the past twenty years.

Y'know, I don't think it really matters who they get to direct at this point.  Lucas derailed so much of that franchise and now Disney owns it.  I saw what Disney did with the Muppets; I can't be optimistic about this.

And f*** it, I enjoyed Star Trek XI and I'm looking forward to INTO DARKNESS.

I simply will NOT watch another J.J. Abrams movie, ever, not even if it's Star Wars.   :bluesad:

I saw what Disney did with the Muppets...

So did I!  I loved it!

I actually enjoyed the Star Trek movie JJ did so I'm rather excited about seeing what he do with Star Wars.  Should be fun!

Also, if you guys are interested, Dark Horse is currently putting out a new Star Wars written by Brain Wood (currently writing Conan comics and some X-Men ones as well) called... Star Wars that takes place right after the A New Hope and goes in a completely different direction.  Might interest you all if you want some other form of Star Wars.

I enjoyed the new Trek movie too.  It wasn't canon, but doggone it! It was entertaining and well cast.
I'll give this a watch.  Gotta be better than Episode I!

I liked the new Star Trek and the new Muppets.

I also agree that Abrams could not do any worse than Lucas already has with the franchise.

And I don't think Disney will necessarily demean the quality of the movie.  After all, they've let Marvel pretty much do their own thing with Avengers movies.

(But I will say I'm worried about the supposed Blade and Punisher reboots that are on the horizon.  Can you imagine movies for either of those guys associated with Disney, whilst maintaining an R rating?)

I hated the newest Star Trek movie more that I think I've ever hated a remake/sequel/retelling or whatever they called that tragedy. And now he has a hold of Star Wars....I'll wait until it comes out for $1 rental. Maybe.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

LOL.....probably not. But as a long time Star Trek fan I just couldn't stand what they did to the characters.

It is not so much whether we liked the movie or thought it was good or not; it just wasn't Trek.

Can you say "LENS FLARE"?
I actually liked the new Star Trek film but the lens flare drove me absolutely nuts on a second viewing.
Star Wars should be ok if there's no lens flare. Otherwise it'll look like this:

By the way, am I the only one who thinks JJ Abrams has a dicknose?

Read earlier that the 3D conversions of the other Star Wars films have been cancelled.  That's a good thing I suppose but I was wanting to watch the originals in the theater again, even in cruddy 3D.

I can see your point.....I remember seeing all the originals on the big screen. Very cool!
