I really enjoy Trevor's thread "Movies you wish people had warned you about first".

This thread is for movies you HAD been warned about but ignored the warning.

The first ones that come to my mind.

Mofo Rising

Feed (2005)

In case you're not aware of the movie, it's about a man who hosts a pornographic website where he feeds women mass amounts of food in order to balloon them up to sizes above 1000 pounds (with their approval). There's a detective who works in sex-crimes who was also part of a dramatization of that infamous German cannibal case who has to hunt him down. There's also some effort to make the pornographer into a Se7en-style, super-intelligent psychopath. It doesn't matter.

This is an awful, unpleasant, stupid movie.

When it came out, my brother was working at a video store. A customer came in and asked for a movie that was messed up. My brother, not having seen the film itself, recommended Feed by saying, "I hear this is pretty screwed up."

The customer came back the next day, partially traumatized saying, "That movie was f**ked up. I mean, it was f**ked up."

Naturally, I queued it up on Netflix.

When the DVD came in the mail, my brother just looked at me and said, "I warned you about this movie. I warned you about this so we wouldn't watch it."

I'm not sure he really understands how my brain works, but that is a warning I should have heeded. You may now be tempted to watch it yourself. Don't. It's awful; nothing good will come of it.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Cold Creek Manor (2003)

People warned me yet I was intrigued because the trailer reminded me of Burnt Offerings.
Cold Creek Manor turned out to be awful indeed.

Of those I was warned about and ignored it and watched it anyway and regretted it off the top of my head: Bucky Larson (2011), The Happening (2008), The Village (2004), Lady in the Water (2006), The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961), Monster A Go-Go (1965), North (1994), Freddy Got Fingered (2001),  Battlefield Earth (2000), Mac and Me (1988), Gigli (2003), Batman & Robin (1997) and Baby Geniuses (1999).

Of those I was warned about and ignored it and watched it anyway and enjoyed  off the top of my head: Troll 2 (1990), The Room (2003), Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2008), Leonard Part 6 (1987), Hobgoblins (1988), Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966), Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964), Robot Monster (1953), Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), Glen or Glenda (1953), Highlander 2 Special Edition (2004) and Bride of the Monster (1955).

Those are hard for me to watch. I've watched the room a few times, but with Manos once was enough for me.

I agree with you on this Bob
yeah no.

Brother bob warned me about the horror that is Bucky Larson: I had it in my hands but did not rent it. Thankfully.  :buggedout:

It seems like I remember a web site phorum where folks delighted in watching, and discussing, the very kind of movies people warned others not to watch.  Now, I do realize this is reaching far back into the cobwebs of my memory, but I recall those heady days of the FUN of the 'bad movie' as a genre.

MANOS?
SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS?
MONSTER A GO-GO?

Staples.  Movies like this are the fuel of the bad movie fan...they have a 'grounding' influence.  I'd rather watch 100 of these for every one Michael Bay monstrosity I must endure.

Oh well.  So much for my pathetic nostalgia.

Agree with ulthar, I consider those bad movies to be bad movie fans passage of rites. Every true bad movie fan should experience them at least once...

I was warned about Bucky Larson but my girlfriend rented it and I endured it. I hated that thing. It was truly awful. I'd rather rewatch Beast of Yucca Flats a million times before I'd watch that again...

I was warned about FREDDY GOT FINGERED, HEAVEN'S GATE, HUDSON HAWK, and Lynch's DUNE, but I paid no heed.  :/
I heard several people declare HITMAN (the one based on the video game) was the worst thing they'd ever seen but I watched it anyway; what's worse, I sort of liked it.

And of course, THE ROOM, but that one has to be seen to be believed.  :tongueout:

Neither did I.

It wasn't bad at all: it was shot (no pun intended) in Cape Town.

I was warned, but I thought "Sure it's bad, but I enjoy watching bad movies." It's problem is that it's not even "so bad it's good"; it's just bad.

Death Tunnel.  I read on some forum that it was absolutely full of MTV style editing, exactly the sort of thing I cannot stand.  But then one day while browsing the used DVD's back when Gamestop used to sell them, I saw this chick in lingerie and a diving helmet on a cover and...gawd.  I didn't make it 10 minutes into that thing.

A few more movies I was warned about and regretted was Roller Boogie (I got bored with it) and Xanadu (NEVER AGIAIN!!!!!)

The Brain From Planet Arous, Reptillicus, The Creature From The Haunted Sea were movies I thoroughly enjoyed, even if Andrew gave Haunted Sea an One Slime. :tongueout:
yeah no.
