What's up with a lot of Cronenberg's great, old films being released on DVD with no commentary by him!? is he against doing DVD commentaries or something? the Brood & Shivers would be even more great with some comments by him.

Scott

SHIVERS is a very good film. If you haven't seen it then check it out. Hard to find I suppose. I only seen it once anywhere and that was a small local video store. Also an older Barbara Steele is in this one if your a fan, but that is not what makes the film good.

Will

I agree with you Chopper. Cronenberg did a great commentary for Spider, and I know the Canadian release of eXistenZ had a commentary. Shivers has an interview with him, but everything else is barren, I think, unless the Criterion release of Dead Ringers has commentary. I'd like to hear more from him.

Chopper

yes i've seen it. & despite the criticisms i love Shivers. i see as cronenberg's own little b-film, it has a lot of the characteristics of exploitation horror of other films from that era, however it sitll has Dave's own personal stamp on it, one of philospy, sex, science, and gore!

Chopper

I believe the criterion version of Dead Ringers does have commentary by him : )!!! it was very interesting too from what i remember. although his voice got a little monotone at times.
