Maybe Heros is not the right word-but-in your life-what people influnced you the most.

2.Malcom X
3.HP Lovecraft
4.Forrest J Ackerman 4SJ. Dr,Acula. The Ackermonster. He was more of a father to me than my own father. And I never met him.
6.Jack Kirby
7.Will Eisner
8.Nickolia Siskaninitz-you dont know him. He was an old Russian farmer.I was best freinds with his son,Nick aka Shug.I He taught me how to drive a tractor and plow a field;how to catch a snappin turtle, butcher it and cook it,to hunt rabbits,to work hard. And laugh and say "f**k it" about life. He is #1.I loved that man more than I did my own father. He  WAS my father.
This list aint in any kind of order. If it was-Nickolia would be first.

I don't know if I can limit it to just 10 but here goes.

1. My parents who gave an abandoned, abused child a second chance in life.
2. My college lecturer Jeanette Burger who encouraged me when other teachers wrote me off: she passed away at the age of 41 in 1990.
3. Everyone on here that carried me when my Dad passed.
4. The filmmakers Jans Rautenbach, David Millin ASC and Vincent Cox ASC.
5. My special niece and nephew whose births ended my plans to commit suicide in 2008.
6. Anyone that tells me 'You can' instead of 'you can't'.

That's my ten: all of my family here count as one.

I should just clarify that no ways am I joking about what I said in #5.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

1. Ron Paul- spoke truth to power in a way I've never seen in my lifetime.

indianasmith

Great idea!  Let's see, for me -

1.  My Dad.  The best and wisest man I have ever known.
2.  My former neighbor, Harry Thompson.  World War II vet, POW, and all around poster child for the Greatest Generation.  He went skydiving at age 92!
3.  My co-worker Billy Walker -a 30 year veteran schoolteacher who goes on mission trips every summer.  ALL summer.
4.  Ronald Reagan.  He was the greatest President of my lifetime.
5.  Theodore Roosevelt.  Even if he had never been President, he still lived one of the most adventurous and action-packed lives EVER.
6.  Winston Churchill.  In humanity's darkest hour, he stepped into the gap and saved the world.
7.  Abraham Lincoln, whose words  have the power to inspire 150 years later.
8. (and really number one) Jesus of Nazareth - the carpenter from Galilee who was "the word made flesh."

7. Himself
8. Himself
9. Himself
10. Himself

I: CHRIST
II: WALTER J. HOPEWELL, my maternal grandfather.
III: JOHN ROGERS, seventh grade science teacher
IV: MR. FROMAN, Holocaust survivor with a kind word for everyone.
V: STAN LEE, 'nuff said!
VI: CLAYTON MOORE, need you ask?
VII: JACQUES COUSTEAU, for bringing us along
VIII: ALBERT EINSTEIN
IX: MARTIN LUTHER KING
X: JOHN F. KENNEDY
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

indianasmith

Now that is a VERY eclectic mix, Venom!  Interesting choices all.

2. Robert Pollard from Guided By Voices - He is, to me, the Picasso of our generation. He'sv written hundreds if not thousands of great (obviously subjective here) songs and changed much about the way I think about music.

He really destroyed the whole kind of bohemian, critically driven view of the artist. He was a teacher for years till he found an audience, had a family etc He talks onstage instead of trying to be mysterious. He was even an amazing athlete, throwing the only no hitter in Ohio State's history.

A much better example for songwriters than many others, even if I can't live up to any of it!

tracy

1.My parents...for installing in me to be Christian, honest and help as much as I can

2. Jim Henson...who showed me how you can be creative, funny and do it all without any vulgarity

3.John Wayne....he was a hard working, patriotic American whose love of country was contageous

4.Helen Keller....for having the unstoppable spirit and courage to succeed no matter what the obstacle

5.Martin Luther King....he was such a brave, decent man who wanted every color to be friends and care about it deeply

The main influence....and He is in a class all His own...is my Savior.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.
