not the retirement I expected

I had been dutiful and saved as much money as possible and was ready to stay at my job for a few more years (until I could get on medicare)

Hoped to at least part time  and have more time and enjoyment with the wife.

Sadly this was not to be

I had not  been feeling myself for quite a while  and had talked to my doctor about testosterone

But it cost $300 a month, and the insurance wouldn't pay for it.

After Christmas I started getting flaky at work and home and my wife kept noticing wierd things that I was doing and that I had problems doing things that I had no problems with

My wife was getting fed up  with it and set up a visit to the our GP he did a lot of bloodwork which showed my testostorone  was almost non existent  and my Vit.D was very low. They also did an MRI on my head (to make sure that I didn't have a stroke or something else   they did find that y brain mass was a little smaller-than normal for someone my age

The doctor that studied  MRI was a jerk of high to the nines

I went to a neuralpsicologists  and had a 2 hr. Cognition tests. which they studied for a week and when they graded it I got the grade of a 95 year old man . reason being my lack of testosrone!!
I've been taking shots every two weeks of th stuff. My gp pushed for as pet scan so we could get a good diagnosis and got it .

I was diagnosed with earl onsest Alzheimers

I'm doing very well and most people  don't know there is anything wrong with me   My dementia is pretty mild for now.

I do get stuck

Had to quit my job, (too much stress)  in conversations, and accasionally a word will flumux me.

I am on Social Security Disability. and and am waiting for my Longterm Disability from my job

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Aw, Trek, I'm sorry to hear that.  :bluesad:

Getting older sucks.

Google agrees that there is a link between low testosterone and Alzheimers, I did not know this.

Hopefully you will retain most of your faculties for a good long time.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Sorry to hear that, old friend.  I'll be praying for you.
In the meantime, hang out here as much as you like!
You'll always be welcome!

Aw, Trek.  I'm so sorry to hear that.  I struggle to imagine the impact of that diagnosis.  Hopefully any progression will be very, very slow.

Trek, my friend, I'm sorry to hear that.  See if your doc has therapeutic stuff you can do to keep things working.  And I (and all your friends here) are here if you need to talk it out.
Take care brother.

Aw, BrotherTrek: that is beyond sad, my friend.

Every time I'm at my office desk, I turn my head to the left and I see those two friends you sent me a few years ago, standing holding their lirpas and I smile when I think of you.

Be well, be strong and be healthy, my brother. *HUG*

I'm definitely sorry to hear about that Trekgeezer. The best of luck.

Terrible news, Trek.

About two years ago, the wife of the couple next door to me had to relay that her husband had Alzheimer's. I'm sure she only told me this because his behavior was becoming a bit too noticeably odd. They still seem to be doing okay for now, though.

I don't imagine this diagnosis was much fun to receive. Here's hoping you and your family do well for as long as possible.
