Hi folks, I've been trying to figure out a film from when I was a kid and to this day I still can't piece it together. It was probably early to mid 80's I think. In the film there was a man sent to a jungle outpost to investigate some strange events. I can't remember if he was some kind of journalist or possibly a military guy. There were either some kind of creatures in it, or just particularly dangerous tribesmen that were causing trouble.

There are two things that definitely stand out in my memory though. In one scene a man or woman is running from the baddie and ends up falling over a large dead animal (wild boar I think), and the other thing was the very end of the flick. As the survivors (the hero and a woman, natch) are escaping in a helicopter (or possibly a plane) and everything is looking like a happy ending, one of the baddies is revealed to be on the copter/plane with them. The movie ends at that reveal and you're left pretty much figuring everyone dies. That ending really stuck with me as a kid since I hadn't really seen anything end on such a down note.

This could have been an "ABC Movie of the Week" kind of thing though, I'm not sure. Another little tidbit is I'm wanting to say the baddies had the same scream as the Slayers from "Krull" and the pod people from "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" made.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is that anything like what you were looking for (skip to the end)?

OMG! YES!!! YES, THAT'S IT! You just put over 3 decades worth of wondering to bed sir. I thought at first it was the "Cut and Run" flick posted earlier and that my memory was just way off, but "Dance of the Dwarves" is the one! Wow. I have a ridiculous grin on my face and am feeling like a kid again.  :twirl:

Thank you so much for this!

The Fake Macoy

The funny thing is that the reason I started posting on this site was because of Dance of the Dwarfs.  I had seen part of it on TV years before and came here to find out what movie it was from.  Things have come a full circle now.
