So I was grading papers from the mid-term exam I gave to my college class this week.  One of the essay topics was: "Describe the strengths and weaknesses of both sides going into the American Revolution, and what each side had to do in order to win."  A reply from one student explained that the weaknesses of both sides going into the Revolution were the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the Black Death.  Let's parse that a minute, shall we?  The Black Death was in 1348.  The Reformation began in 1517 and continued for the next century or so.  The Renaissance, although it stretched a bit on either side, mainly occurred between 1400 and 1500.  The American Revolution STARTED in 1775!

That is basically like saying that America's big weakness going into Iraq 2003 was from the poor planning that went into the Articles of Confederation in 1781!

Let's just call that being 19.

I remember writing an essay to test for classes in community college. I put every aspect of life into that one essay, just exploring every aspect of humanity as it is explored on this planet. Complete garbage which left the graders wondering what the hell I was talking about.
