It's from the Asylum, so it's about what you'd expect. Shoe-horn Melville's story into a modern setting, lots of lines dropped in from the novel, a couple of recognizable stars whose careers are past their peak, and plenty of bad special effects.

At least they didn't try to work in Melville's pages and pages of whaling trivia. No whaling at all, just a giant whale who seems to hate submarines.

Ah yes, the classic story of a submarine genius using his nuclear torpedo-equipped attack sub to hunt a stealth whale.  I found quite a bit of this disappointing.

Weren't there a few times that the whale was hiding in water that was way too shallow to hide a creature of its size?

Well, you know how sometimes you can suck in your gut to squeeze through really tight areas?

That's what happened here.  The movie sucked.

The whale far bigger than the submarine, yet it casually swims into water so shallow that the sub ran aground, so yeah... silly.

The captain spouting those quotes from the novel just made me grimace  :bouncegiggle:  I remember the ending being a bit dumber than your usual Asylum fare as well.  Not really a favorite of mine I'm afraid.

Okay...stupid enough to watch, just not in a serious or legal state of mind.  Works for me!
