By the time he was my age, Theodore Roosevelt had published multiple books, run a ranch in Montana, served on the New York Civil Service Commission, been elected Police Commissioner of NYC, been designated as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, commanded the Rough Riders, won the Medal of Honor, been elected governor of New York, been elected Vice President, succeeded to the Presidency, created the FDA, won the Nobel Peace Prize, been elected President in his own right, created the Republic of Panama and negotiated the canal treaty, climbed several mountains, ridden down the Grand Canyon, created Yosemite National Monument and numerous other great parks, given Maxwell House Coffee its slogan, had a plush toy named after him, seen his chosen successor elected President, and left office to head out on a grand African safari, and was on his way to being recognized as the coolest person of all time.

He left Americans alone for the most part.

A big salute to President Franklin Pierce aka President McDreamy!

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Theodore Roosevelt has been called the most bad ass president- more bad ass than Regan. I don't think Regan had the Bull Moose Party like Teddy did. :tongueout:
yeah no.

William Howard Taft riding a water buffalo:

Calvin Coolidge sporting a Native American headdress:

President Jimmy Carter bravely fights off an attack by an angry rabbit:

Press Secretary Jody Powell:The animal was clearly in distress, or perhaps berserk. The President confessed to having had limited experience with enraged rabbits. He was unable to reach a definite conclusion about its state of mind. What was obvious, however, was that this large, wet animal, making strange hissing noises and gnashing its teeth, was intent upon climbing into the Presidential boat.

President Carter: I had a paddle in the boat, so when the rabbit got closer to me to recognize it, and I saw that it was going to attempt to climb into the boat with me, I thought that would be an unpleasant situation for both me and the rabbit. I did not hit the rabbit, I just splashed water toward him and he finally veered his course.
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

That guy who just took over as CEO of Microsoft is about 2 years younger than me.  Damned over-achievers  :hatred:

Teddy Roosevelt was an amazing guy, and so was Andrew Jackson (though maybe a borderline psychopath?). But lets not forget about James Polk. He was a unassuming looking guy, but very smart, shrewd and was blessed with a pair of brass ones.

Also, these two gentlemen are on our family tree...William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison.

Presidential Legacy - The Mediocre Presidents

P.S. I realize the maker of the video was wrong to include Truman and Eisenhower among the mediocre presidents.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

CALIGULA???? Really, Lester?
I get that you hate the Presidency and all extensions of government power.
But that was a cheap shot, IMO.
Even Grant didn't name his horse to the Senate, or rape the wives of his dinner guests!

Grant didn't understand the job like Caligula did. If you're gonna do it, do it up right. Go for the glory!
