"Love for Sale" by Arthur Lyman
Blech, another horrible cover.  That must be LYMAN himself there...?

Yeah, that's him. I don't think it's a terrible cover, just an unimaginative one. Good LP, though (the album titled "I Wish You Love" is the exact same album). It's pretty much his jazz album, no exotica.

Think: album title.  Look at album cover upon which title is prominently printed.   :buggedout:
I don't think the cover is "terrible".  It's horrible.

I saw this!  But what late night TV show was it from...?  I have Un-Led-Ed (like anybody who'd be looking at this) and have loved these guys (and LED ZEP and ELVIS) for a long time.  I just posted these exact remarks at YouTube.  I love YouTube.  I look for albums that I don't have but want to listen to, and often find them there...!  I only buy if I have to own!   :teddyr:  BELA, Thanks for posting that.  I looked at it twice.  I love it.

I cannot tell you how powerful that album cover and that band's name was in 1980.  I understood what the mainstream did not (there was a lot of negative press). DEAD KENNEDYS name choice was about the reality of the world we were living in, a world in the wake of dead KENNEDYS.  They were kind of THE BEATLES of punk if not THE STONES...   :teddyr:

Hadn't thought of that. "I Wish You Love" was the original title and that's not so bad matched to the picture. The title was changed to "Love for Sale" after that single became a hit. I certainly would not buy love Lyman was selling.

There was negative reaction?

I'd imagine. I wasn't yet born, and in fact raised by someone who predominately listens to r&b and '50s music. Somehow, it led me to punk and the Kennedys. Kennedys are great
