POSSESSION (1981) It's about a marriage that's gone bad. With swooping cameras, the birth of a tentacled monster and everybody over acting their asses off. It's very artsy fartsy, but very good if your into this type of stuff.

Thanks for all of the posts- Keep 'em coming!
I am adding all of the ones I haven't seen to my To-Watch list.

Troll 2 (1990) It's 1 of the weirdest movies I have ever seen.

Why should we watch it? It's BAD but so bad it's GOOD. Get it?...

I love Troll 2 ^

Also really loved the first Troll movie, with the actual troll, and the lady from Seinfeld and the kid from the neverending story in it.

You beat me to it! Possession is an excellent allegorical "monster" movie about the desolation of a marriage. Some additional interesting facts about the film, the actress won an award at cannes for her performance, and this film actually preceded what many people consider to be the first "tentacle erotica" film "urotsukidoji".

Another suggestion for you is "Princess" the 2006 Danish animation film. It's extremely dark, but very interesting in both it's philosophical musings about violence, and sex, as well as its unique execution.

This was the first movie to leave me speechless. I still don't have words for this movie. I hated every minute of it, until it was done and I realized that I actually liked it. Yes, I know that makes no sense, but neither does this movie. Or does it?

There was a LOT of big hair in that trailer! LOL

^ That actually looks really cool haha. I have seen that movie cover around before but never knew what to take of it so never rented or watched it yet. Now I will give it a watch. I only watched half of the trailer and that was enough to persuade me. Cheers.

I'm going to throw in Mirror Mask

You give Neil Giamen the keys to the Jim Henson Company  and you get one real interesting  piece of movie eye candy.  They story isn't bad, but nothing I'd call ground breaking.  Plenty of "Quirky for Quirky's sake"   elements, but its visuals really help its other world fairy tale-esque quality.

At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

Rev's list is pretty much my go to as well.

General recommendations for The Forbidden Zone and Buckaroo Banzai.  The Forbidden Zone almost got me banned from hosting movie nights...

Wow, how have I not heard of that ^

Just added it to my list of movies to watch.

Some of those late 80s movies are awesomely weird.

Actually watching this movie right now. I'm enjoying it. It's a really awkward movie but I like this type of movie. So much random absurd things happening in it lol. I like movies that are comprised of random nonsense. The acting is pretty mediocre but it only adds suspense and unreality to it, if that makes sense. I'm about half way through it now. haha. Thanks for the recommendation. Really surprised I've never heard of it as mid to late 80s is my favorite period of horror.
