Not even a guess?   

This actor was a huge star in his day, perhaps not as well remembered today.  His surname is the same as an even more famous actor of the same era (they are not related, but this other actor has the most legitimacy onscreen of any actor I can think of).

This actor started out in musicals, and later transformed his persona to a tough guy...
