What is the least violent films you have seen?

Hello bad movie lovers. For this message, I decided to go in the opposite direction of my last message and ask you what is the least violent films you have seen.

The way I see it, a movie doesn't have to be violent to create drama. Now don't you think that nonviolent films are boring. But suppose you saw a monster movie and the monster's rampage wasn't seen at all, just the results of it. Now suppose said monster was killed subtly and nonviolently. Say it's food supply is heavily poisoned while it sleeps. It wakes up to eat then goes out to look for more food. But not bringing back much, it goes to sleep and never wakes up again.

One film I saw that wasn't violent was called the Breakfast Club. It centered around high school students in detention. We watched the students as they talked about things.

Another nonviolent film I enjoy is called Sliding Doors. It is one of those alternate reality kind of films labeled as a romantic comedy. Thought it is not completely nonviolent, there is one part where Helen (Gwyneth Paltrow) catches her boyfriend Gerry (John Lynch) having sex with his ex girlfriend Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn.) After Lydia leaves, Helen does scream at Gerry for his unfaithfulness and throws a few blows before dumping him. What I like most about this film is that it explores how different choices and circumstances can affect the flow of one's life and the turns it may take. Bad movie lovers, do you ever ponder how your lives would have unfolded if you made certain choices differently?

Can't think, although I was thinking about certificates recently and I think my favourite film that is rated U (the lowest in UK) is probably 2001: A Space Odyssey, which always kind of bugs me out because I've always found it a thoroughly disturbing film even as an adult.

y'know the fact that you put this thread in good movies, your last in bad says something, also logging in and not replying to your last thread was curious to me.. You maybe want to justify why you think violent movies is a bad thing?

Peter Sellers' final movie, a very dry comedy called BEING THERE, was almost completely devoid of any violence that I can recall.

Oh I should have probably mentioned THE LIMITS OF CONTROL (2009) which is like an action movie without action.

Ferris Beuller's Day Off

Antiviral (2012) - Not violent that I can recall but very disturbing.

Not many that I can think off. Maybe that's because if there isn't some violence in it I get bored and look for something else.

I was going to mention the Disney Alice in Wonderland, but I'm sure there were the usual cartoonish head thumpings in it.

It's an interesting question because I'm finding it difficult to think of movies that have very little violence, either overt or implied. Even Alice in Wonderland had the threat of decapitation.

Short Circuit (1986). Comedy about a lovable sentient robot. Johnny Five is alive!

Office Space (1999). Comedy about downtrodden office workers breaking free. But they do smash an office copy machine and computer to pieces.

In answer to your question, I do not think violent movies are a bad thing per se. I just think most movies don't tend to have the right balance of them. Now we expect westerns, military movies, crime dramas, action and sci fi movies to be violent. But I have seen violence in genres of movies where it is not the norm. Don't get me wrong, I do like seeing the villain get his or her violent just desserts. But violence against innocent people I think is taking it too far and I feel it is one of the causes for the violent crime of this country today.

But usually my favorite way to see a movie end is when the hero and villain meet, the villain says to the hero "Very well played." The hero says "Thank you very much." The villain says "Well its been an honor." Extends his hand to the hero. The hero takes his hand and shakes his briskly then says "Well there are more problems that need my attention." The villain nods and says "Good luck." They both part ways

I can sort of see where you are coming from, growing up with the first real WWW I do have really mixed feelings about desensitization vs. censorship, I don't want there not to be a line but at the same time I don't want people to go "this isn't ok" just because it doesn't align with their political affiliations or personal ideologies. I do think there has been a lot of needless violence that has been glorified in popular culture such as the SAW films which really are just garbage from a cinematic perspective.
