Punisher Movie Trailer

I just learned that "The Punisher" will be released next April 2004.
Some of you may already know about it.

Thomas Jane is playing the title role.  I don't know about him though.  He looks a little too skinny and not chiseled enough in the face to play the Punisher.
Bruce Campbell would be my personal choice.

That's a good one. I didn't even know it was being made. I will probably skip it, because IMHO the only two interesting approaches of a Punisher movie are:

a) To make it as cheesy as the 80s version with Dolph Lundgren

b) To explore the punisher's psichology and / or explore the moral implications of his actions.

I presume this new version will carefully avoid both approaches, so I won't see it.

I just watched the trailer.  It doesn't look too promising.  It just seems like a plain old revenge movie.  But I have never been a big Punisher fan, so I can't throw too many stones.  

I am getting a little nervous that Marvel is already driving its name into the ground for movies.  X-men was great, Spiderman was Awesome, Daredevil was fine, X2 was really good, the Hulk was a disappointment and the Punihsher looks to be the worst of the bunch.  

But I guess Marvel just wouldn't be Marvel if it didn't take a good thing and overexploit it.

I'm worried about this movie.  It was supposed to have been released earlier, but it got delayed.  That often means that it was recalled so that they could re-edit it or even film new scenes.  When this happens, the movies are usually disappointinmg..
