Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery, I suppose.  We all know our comfort horror flicks, now what are the songs you listen to over and over again?  If you're driving a short distance and have to choose only a few songs to listen to, which are the ones you always skip to before you get to Wendy's?
Myself:
Dirty Old Town, A Pair of Brown Eyes - The Pogues
The Worst Day Since Yesterday, If I Ever Leave This World Alive - Flogging Molly
Music In The Wood, Vimy, Closer To The Ocean, Traleigh Bay - Tanglefoot
Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday, The Heart Collector - Nevermore
The Insight and the Catharsis - Dimmu Borgir
Hm...this list is getting a little out of hand.  That's all for now.

Forgot to mention that in high school after particuarly grueling exams I'd slap on the headphones and crank out Damaged by Black Flag (the Henry Rollins version).

Always cleared my head.

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

Ellie you have good taste in music.

Depends. These days there are either Sting's "Why should I cry for you?" or Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here". I'm in a melancholic mood, you see.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I think many times people start these threads to show their advanced taste in music (I'm not saying that is the case here, just an observation).   I like good music as much as the next person but make no mistake.......obscure does not equal good.  You can like the Pogues, Black Flag, The Buzzcocks, Oval Opus or whatever.......that doesn't make your taste better than mine.

Hey, I love Springsteen, I love Nirvana, I even like 50 Cent and Eminem.  All of this doesn't mean that I don't have respect for people who like Wil Smith and N'Sync.  Just because the music isn't your style, doesn't mean it isn't good.

DISCUSS!!!!!

Mr_Vindictive

I agree with the last post.  Even though my name on here is Skaboi, (Ska and Oi) I actually listen to most anything.

Techno, rock, rap, punk, ska-I don't care.  Anything is good.

1. Anything from the Fight Club sndtrck.  The Dust Brothers own.

2. Porch Song-Widespread Panic

3. Water's Edge-7Mary3

4. Edgecrusher and Shock-Fear Factory

Numerous others...........not enough time.

I wasn't trying to make myself sound all superior or anything.  That's just the music I happen to like.  Obscure doesn't always equal good, you're right.  How many of you have ever heard of Lacrimosa?  No?  Well, that's fine, because they blow large amounts of ass.
My point was the "comfort movies" post made me think of other things that were comfortable to me.  When I feel crappy, I listen to songs that make me feel better, or at least enhance my crappy mood in a nicely melancholic way (that sounded really gay, but I don't know how else to put it).  I was just wondering not only what bands other people like, we've already done that post a few times, but what particular songs make people feel good.
But what's wrong with liking the Pogues and saying you do?  Just because they never hit the limelight like Eminem doesn't mean their fans are smug elitists.  I just happen to really like Irish music.  I like non-obscure things too, though.  I really dig Sarah McLaughlan, Michelle Branch is pretty good, all sorts of oldies (everyone knows who the Beach Boys are, and there are few better examples of throwaway pop songs than them).
Now, I'm going to read all the rest of the entries in this thread and laugh smugly since my taste and knowledge of music is so much better than everyone else's. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

To ASHTHECAT regarding the theme to the Andy Griffith Show--Thanks, you bastard.  Well, at least it replaced the theme to SpongeBob Squarepants, which has been bounding through my cranium for over two weeks!
