TV shows on DVD . . . a bottomless pit

Okay . . . I'm starting to become overwhelmed.

Way back in my early DVD-buying days, I purchased the entire TWILIGHT ZONE collection.  I also got THE AVENGERS (only the seasons with Diana Rigg), and THE PRISONER (complete set).

I also own THE SOPRANOS (first 4 seasons), 24 (first season), CAPTAIN SCARLET (all episodes), THE MONKEES (season 1 . . . with season 2 on the way), and THE OUTER LIMITS (both seasons).  I think that's it for TV shows.

But now, I'm faced with the upcoming releases of LOST IN SPACE and (oh, God) GILLIGAN'S ISLAND.  Plus, I still need to buy OZ, the MONTY PYTHON boxed set of all TV episodes, SOUTH PARK, THE SIMPSONS, ALL IN THE FAMILY, THUNDERBIRDS, and probably some others.

I can't keep up with this, and I suspect that it's only going to get worse.  And the thing that really bugs me is that I probably wouldn't spend much time watching these shows on television, but I don't even think twice about buying them.

Please, PLEASE stop me before I shell out my hard-earned money on GILLIGAN'S ISLAND . . .

I just got the first season of Rocky & Bullwinkle on DVD, now I need to complete it and get started on Underdog.

Gilligan's Island isn't so bad, it's when you think about getting Growing Pains or Full House that you've hit rock bottom.  But go get Mail Call first.

If they think anybody will buy it, it'll be put on DVD.  I have a co-worker who was saying something about a Martha Stewart Living TV show DVD.  I didn't catch enough of what she was saying to determine whether this product exists or whether it was something she WISHED existed.  And I don't know which would be scarier.  

Personally, I prefer the luck of the draw gamble of watching on syndication.  When three nights in a row on Simpsons you say "Oh, not this one again!" it adds to the thrill of the fourth night when they play a classic you haven't seen in a while.

Well, okay (AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE), I guess (FAMILY GUY) I"ll try to (increasing number of DR. WHO episodes) hold you (RED DWARF) back (LEXX) from buying (FARSCAPE) any more (NEVERWHERE) TV shows (FUTURAMA).  Well, crap.  I don't think I did a very good job.

Just bought the box set of evey episode of the original Randall and Hopkirk (deceased), now i have to buy the two series of the remake.

Brother Ragnarok you mentioned a DVD of ATHF, where is this available to buy from? Any special features? What of Sealab 2021?

The first seasons of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Space Ghost: Coast to Coast arrive in stores today. I know there are commentaries on certain episodes of each, but I can't remember any of the other features. I'm pretty sure DVDs for Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, The Brak Show, and possibly Home Movies are in the works as well.

i'm sure they'll start, or already are, releasing box sets to all the reality tv shows [i'm sure there are a couple out there] but the next step by the bigwigs of the industry is to release box sets of game shows.  

i don't know about everyone else but the price is right entire series box set sounds pretty appealing!

If you don't want to buy these discs--although on a dollar per hour basis, they're usually a great bargain--join Netflix and rent some series.  I still buy quite a few (Simpsons, Futurama, the upcoming Green Acres set) but I've caught up on show I never started watching, like Alias and The Sheild, but renting the DVDs.

I'm still waiting for The Night Stalker, myself.

The Tick "Live Action" DVD set has the 9 episodes. THey're pretty funny.
