I remember the last time I got really drunk after laying off heavy drinking for years. Puked out the door of a moving taxicab in Amsterdam. Haven't had more than 4 drinks in a night since. You're right, as you get older getting smashed stops being fun. For an alcoholic it even turns into a job.
