THE CYCLOPS (1957)

Just watched it on TCM... starring JAMES CRAIG, LON CHANEY JR., GLORIA TALBOT, and TOM DRAKE...!!!  What a horrible movie!!!
I loved it... everybody knows that monster, yet, who has sat through this pablum...???    I'd guess most of you.  What crap.
Truly BAD in a direct way, and...  WONDERFUL!!!

This is why I first joined this site...because of rotten movies like this.

Ha.ha, yeah I enjoy this movie too (have it on DVD). I've read that Gloria Talbot said Lon Chaney and the other actors were so drunk during production that she got a contact high from their breath while shooting the cockpit scenes.
Yeah, they had a mini Bert I Gordon marathon going last night. I caught THE MAGIC SWORD around 2 AM and enjoyed it. It's a kid's movie, but all the actors did a great job. It was a fun watch.

I don't care what anyone says.  1957 may have been the greatest year for movies.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Be careful of that eye...

THE CYCLOPS is directed by BERT I. GORDON just like WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST (a sequel to THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN also BERT I. GORDON).  Though not in THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN, both THE CYCLOPS and WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST are played by the same actor in practically the same makeup.  Certainly the monster of THE CYCLOPS is practically the same as COLOSSAL BEAST...

WAR OF  THE AMAZING  CYCLOPS  is one of my favorites-I like the part where the monster goes "ARRRGH!"  :drink: And picks up little people!

The CYCLOPS is one of those movies that give me that old fuzzy Famous Monsters little kid high! I love it too!
I LIVE for these kinda movies-EARTH VS HE SPIDER,the ASTOUNDING SHE MONSTER, IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, THE MONSTER OF PIEDRAS BLANCAS (or however the f**k ya spell it)-I could go on forever!

In Lou Costello's only solo project he mocked these films.

WPIX brings back fond memories.  I am from Massachusetts and my cousin was the first person I knew who got cable TV.  One of the channels he got was WPIX.  I believe he also got WGN from Chicago.  I remember a contest WPIX had during their afternoon programming for kids.  A contestant would call into the station and they would show a video game on TV.  It was something about spaceships shooting at things.  Whenever the contestant wanted to shoot at a target, he would say "Pix!" and the ship would fire a missile or something.  The contestant would win a prize for hitting a certain number of targets.
