Santa In Pain Or Danger

Ever notice that many TV commercials seem to depict Santa in danger or pain to sell their product or service?

For example:
Santa sitting at the mall....he shifts in his seat and says, "I should've used Preparation H."

Santa getting stuck in a chimney & being harassed by the AFLAC duck.

Santa fainting at the sight of a living M&M and falling ass backwards & hitting the ground with a hard thud.

An older commercial where you don't see, but you hear Santa slip on the roof and see the ceiling tiles fall to the floor inside the house. (I can't remember the product)

I know there's a few more though I can't think of them offhand.

Why do you think advertisers feel the need to do this?

They probably got sick of the "A Christmas Story" marathon and decided to exact some revenge....

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

This is another example of our lack of respect for senior citizens.  As we all know, Santa is a charter member of the A.A.R.P.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Susan

Santa always creeped me out. Go to any mall and sit, watch kids react when they see him live and in person, most of the time it's screams of fear. Deep down in their subconscience they know....

"He see's you when your sleeping,
he knows when your awake,
he knows if you've been bad or good SO YOU BETTER BE GOOD FOR GOODNESS SAKE!.
Ohhh, you better watch out!,
you better not cry,
you better not pout i'm tellin you why....
santa claus is coming to town!"

ahhhhhhhh!

Now just imagine those lyrics being spoken by Vincent price or James Earl Jones

Why they do it. Because you remember it, that is why they do it. One of the worst things in the world, is a television commercial no one remembers.

Ya want paranoia?
See Santa singing "Every breath you take...every move you make...every breath you take, every move you make , i'll be watching you..." With apsolutly no expression on his face....
Now THATs creepy, brother!

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Kory

Theres the newer one where santa gets stuck in the chimney and the announcer says:

"Where will YOU be when your diarrhea comes back?"

Santa Claus as currently incarnated was created as a commercial figure, for Macy's (I think, might have been a different store).

What I find really annoying is using George Washington & Abraham Lincoln to sell lots of crap in February.
