I finally saw Suspiria, and hoo boy! Talk about all special FX and no plot-it's as hollow a peice of eye candy as you can get! It's got mind-blinding technicolor gore and a soundtrack that can only be described as the musical equivalent of a migraine headache (garunteed to drive kitty insane, hee hee)

StatCat

It's not my favorite Dario movie (that would go to Tenebre or the Bird with the Crystal Plumage) but it's weird and different I'll give it that.  Definitely several steps away from the giallo moves. The Goblin score I think is one their best.

I rented SUSPIRIA a few year ago after reading about it, but I was a little dissappointed. I was hoping to see a great Italian Horror film. Don't get me wrong. It's a quality picture, but it was never able to catch my interest.  A couple others of that I wasn't that fond of were THE BEYOND and HOUSE BY THE CEMETRY. They both had some good scenes, but I just couldn't get into it. I'd much much rather watch LADY FRANKENSTIEN than the three mentioned above.

That's Italian horror during the Eighties for you....

And if you think Suspiria makes little sense check out Inferno.  It makes Suspiria seem like a tightly plotted Agatha Christie mystery.

WOOT! Suspiria's a good one all right!

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

Suspiria is okay, but StatCat is right: there are better Dario Argento movies out there.  TENEBRE and BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE are both very good.  I also like DEEP RED.

StatCat

Deep Red is another favorite (probably my third), and then I'd say Opera would be my fourth for Argento movies.  Opera is a really amazing film but the ending was such a dissapointment.  The only Argento movie I don't believe I've seen is Four Flies on Grey Velvet- it still baffles me why it isn't on dvd yet.

The Burgomaster

Exactly, StatCat . . . FOUR FLIES!  Where is it, I ask? Where??????
