Based on his FB posts he was really appreciating being alive. I am sure he's just resting now, as he should be.

He's very appreciative.  He mentioned it the other night.  Appreciative seems the more appropriate word than upbeat.

The number I have is not answering and at least a year old. 
Of course, I hope all is okay.  I think Ron said he had two heart attacks last week.
