Tonight I met this girl from London who had the best (albeit I suspect partially affected) HRP accent I'd ever heard in real life. She sounded like she'd just left Downton Abbey after hitting the posh end of Buckingham Palace, and I could've listened to her all night.

So I asked my mom, who was with me and who can do any accent on earth, whom I'm told sounded as American as they come after six weeks in this country in 1978, if she could sound like that girl.

"Oh, sure," she said.

"Do it."

So she did! She sat there and out-HRP'd the Londoner with this impeccable upper-class English accent!

In the strange world of anime, anything is possible; I just watched The Ultimate Teacher and I have to say that it is the biggest pile of crap I've seen that is also bat s**t insane...in a good way. It's probably the equivalent to The Room, a giant wreck of a movie (or anime in this case) that is enjoyable. Now the grenade scene from Mad Bull 34....I have no words to describe that other than stupendously manly.

Got to see our Senior Class of 2015 get their diplomas last night, and today I got to hang out with some of last year's graduates home
from college.  Two of them went up to the river with me for a fossil ramble and we had a jolly old time!

Joy Division's Ian Curtis hanged himself thirty-five years ago today. Stupid thing to do, poor man, throwing his life away, all his talent, making his little girl grow up without him, letting down his band mates, who were getting ready to tour America, leaving behind so many loved-ones to deal with their pain. It's said if he had been able to make it to morning, he might have pulled himself through.

Our Scouts needed a patrol name for a competition camp.  One of the boys is heavily involved in the 4-H Rabbit club.  I suggested they could be the "Knights of the Lepus".  None of them know the movie and they are rather soft-hearted kids (the mere thought of marauding killer rabbits very likely would traumatise them!).    Was that mean?  (The suggestion was kept amongst the adults.)

Always been partial to smeg as quasi-profanity myself, thanks Grant Naylor.

Also, tried "Rebanadas - frosted toast" today, found them at Walmart after recognizing them from the sadly defunct bad-candy.com. The smell is quite stout, but the snack itself is good, albeit very hard/crunchy.
