When I travel overseas I often take old underthings and other garments - the stuff that's starting to wear out.  Then as each day passes I throw stuff out.  I did that to decrease the weight and make room for goodies I'm taking home.

My last trip to Italy I miscalculated on the amount of stuff I needed, and about three days before the end of the trip I was completely out of not only underwear but socks as well.  I wound up having to buy some from a dept store once I got back to Rome from Sicily.

I'm thinking next time I go overseas I might just eat the second checked bag fee so I have more room for clothes.
