I keep confusing Adam-12 with The Rookies...
Not sure which one I used to watch as a little kid.

Lately this place has been slower than molasses in July in the southern hemisphere!

We were all at church this morning.  Where were you?

Why worshiping in the cathedral of nature, of course! (Or changing Trinnie's pull-up pants...)

I was an extra (audience member) in a friend's movie.
Got all suit & tied for it, then found out only three of the actors needed to do that. The rest of us are getting blacked out, or silhouetted (or whatever it is) against a green screen.

I've been retired since last December and lately I think I'm making my wife a little crazy because she's not used to having me around all the time.

You should hang out here more, we're not used to having you around all the time (but we wish we were!)
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I believe that I will, it beats watching re-runs of the Jerry Springer show on channel 5.

I'm fascinated by the fear element of skateboarding. The other day, I dropped in on a ramp that was higher than anything I had before. It's hard to describe the feeling I had. I 99 % didn't want to do it and 1% did. It was like a roller coaster even though I was only 6 or 7 feet off the ground. I was dead tired too which didn't help.

I'm not all that naturally talented so it's hard to know when I'm pushing my boundaries beyond what is sensible. At the same time, there are little kids on youtube that do this stuff so it's not like you have to be super gifted.

bottom line is there are things I can't do because of skill like kickflip ollies and there are other things that are a matter of fear. If you can do a backside grind on a 4 foot tall ramp theres really no reason why you can't do it on a 5 foot one other than that the extra foot freaks you out. and it does freak you out unless you can't block out the fear somehow. I want to get better at that

Good to have you around more Dennis, we'll keep you from driving your wife nuts

I think it's funny that the National Weather Service has started numbering tornado watches. (Or at least they've started announcing the number.) Like somewhere two guys in a bar are going to roll up their sleeves and argue about whether a particular storm was Tornado Watch 361 or 359.

Anybody know what these things are?
I've had these little purple things growing wild all along the western side of my house. They're most prominent at the northwest corner.

Looks quite similar to Blue Mistflower (conoclinium coelestinum).  That's my best guess.

Would anyone please explain the movie Shane to me? An Alan Ladd movie? Classic western. I've never seen it and someone made a reference to it.

Was Shane a bad guy who tried to go good and then went back to black at the end, or was he a good guy who tried to go bad but was really good at heart? Or was it that he tried to live non-violently and realized he couldn't? I'm guessing it was one of those but I can't get the reference without knowing which he was.
