Never saw the movie, but I've read the original Playboy short story.
Not erotic at all. more like a story about a woman willing to put up with a guy who wants a dog for a lover, just because he happens to be good in bed... Then she has a nervous breakdown & goes to a mental hospital for no reason.

The movie is definitely different from the short story, so not much of spoiler for the movie.

The refrigerator scene is the best scene, and the camera work is pretty great throughout, as is the soundtrack. Can't say I buy into the story too much, but it an interesting film.

Random thought:  Why Milpitas? Why NOT?!?!
