I have a scene from a movie in my head, a man sits by a small body of water and sees his reflection and reaches in. he falls in an cant escape, like the top became frozen. i know it happens in a lord of the rings movie but i remember it being an 80's or earlier movie with claymation in it.  any ideas?

There is a scene in LEGEND (85) where he dives into a pond and when he tries to swim out, it's frozen. Might be it?

It's probably Legend.

Way older than the 80s, but there's a scene sort of like that in the 1965 Dr. Who and the Daleks movie with Peter Cushing.
