Does anyone else think the Universal Soldier films should be counted as zombie movies? After all, they're about re-animated dead guys.

Cricket21a

Might as well add Mary Shelly's Frankenstein,  Abott and Costello Meet the Mummy, Young Frankenstein, Frankenstein and the Wolfman, I'm sure there are plenty of other with reanimation or with curses.  The question is are they Zombies?

What makes a Zombie a Zombie?

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.

Good question Cricket21a. I think it must be something that unearths itself from the grave and maybe from a tomb(vampires and mummies also do that) in my opinion.

Oh, yes I will put LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE high on my list.

jmc

Yeah, I think think LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE is way better than any of the Fulci stuff.  It's one of the few that doesn't seem like a ripoff.

An entire thread about a complete list of zombie movies, and no one has mentioned http://www.zombiemart.com , the (tries to be) comprehensive listing of living dead flicks?

Have I wasted my life for nothing?

Wait -- don't answer that...

Nathan

Susan

Wow, still no mention of the following not on the list:

++I WAS A TEENAGE ZOMBIE
++INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED UP ZOMBIES
++ONE DARK NIGHT

StatCat

I had One Dark Night on my second list (looking forward to the dvd by Blue Underground!)

++I WAS A TEENAGE ZOMBIE
++INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED UP ZOMBIES

I think I'd rather watch paint dry than these two.

Speaking of Zombie movies.
I just got the Book,  The Zombie Survival guide, by Max Brooks

Very Funny and a must have to place next to your Zombie movie collection.

As for Zombie movies I'm a traditionalist and prefer Night of the Living dead and Dawn of the Dead best.

As for not quite zombie movie with zombie flavor I'v ve always liked Day of the Triffids and Night of the Comet.

Scott

Yea, I like DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS also. Did those plants come from outerspace or did the meteors cause earthly plants to change?

jmc

That Max Brooks book is great....some of the stories of zombie outbreaks would be good ideas for movies.

JohnL

>++ONE DARK NIGHT

Does this one really qualify as a zombie film? As I recall, the corpses don't really come back to life, they're moved by telekinesis.

BGrade

What about the movie. "Life Force"

Yes it is about a space vampire.  But it plays like a zombie movie.  I liked it quite a bit.

Scott

LIFE FORCE is a good movie. Only seen it once when if first came out on video.
