The story about that autistic man & his councilor down in Florida had me tore up a good while. I was in special classes & wound up doing some vocational rehab instead of college or trade school, so I got to know a few people like that. I worry about their futures, & then I feel it staring back at me, and I can't help getting broken up.
People don't know me. They think because I don't walk & talk like one of them, that I must be stubborn & lazy, and it hurts.

Once upon a time some third-year students were sitting around Hogwarts carping about how much they hated that git Harry Potter, the ultimate teacher's pet. Seriously, not a week went by but the smug so-and-so made headlines, getting special treatment and giving off the feeling that the whole of their world revolved around him. So a few of them, led by a seventh-year Slytherin named Simon, decided they'd catch him in a dark hallway near Ravenclaw Tower and give him the much-needed pounding of his life.

"None of that hocus pocus stuff," Simon stated, "let's just womp the little turd Medieval style."

So they send Potter a note in Cho Chang's handwriting offering to meet up for a quick snog, XOXO, and sure enough there came Potter, scampering in on his tiny little feet, and:

WHAM!

POW!

BAMZO!

Back he soon went with a black eye and a bum crotch (one of the punches went a tad low) and the other students went to their dorms feeling a bit placated at heart, hailing Simon as a genius.

Potter never told anyone about his arse-kicking and so it never made it into the books, and as for Simon, he decided to live in the Muggle world, hosting a show called American Idol.

Heck! I need a vacation ere I go on vacation.

At the end of this year, I finally saved up enough money to go to Florida for a week. It is an all-inclusive resort, so once I lay that plastic down, everything is paid for, but . . .?! till then I've been going back and forth with my travel agent, as we try to nail down, where and when, I'll be taking all my meals. I thought everything was set, till I looked at my schedule, and I realized I'm going to have to go back tomorrow and make some changes in my meal plan. That time and one more time to finalize it all, and that should be it.

Depression saps the energy out of you and you find it harder to even enjoy the things you used to love. Or to even get energy to want to do anything really a lot of the time.
