I have no local Hasting but use to buy from them online .. seem they have shut down their online sales. Closest one to me is about 100 miles away - sad truth is brick and mortar stores will have trouble without a strong online presents which I actually thought Hastings had.

Welcome back, Brother Cheeze

Been going there a lot the past few days and buying boatloads of comics.  Right now they're having a 70% and 20% off sale on them.  That is, they take 70 percent off the initial price, then another 20 percent off THAT price.  Been picking up mainly stuff I'm interested in, but also figure that when I'm done reading them I'll try to resell most of them on eBay down the road.

I hear rumors that they're going to have a 90 percent off sales in a week or two, but I wonder how much will actually be left when that happens.

It's funny, I've picked up a few DVDs as well, but unlike in the past, I just don't feel much a desire to go digging through them looking for possibly interesting titles.  Guess I'm not as into movies in general as much as I used to be.

I went by Monday and got six history books, two of the hardcover, and one 20 movie DVD set and a single DVD of DIGGING UP THE MARROW.  Total cost:  $34.50!

I used to work for Hastings. They always were the grubby little store that could. After I quit working there, I never felt comfortable walking in the place because all I could think of was all the ways to steal stuff I'd learned from working there. That, and I hated the management at our store.

To be honest, I'm impressed they have lasted as long as they have. They lasted longer than the average. I expect B&N to be next to go down the tubes.
I feel more like I do now than I did a while ago.

If I owned a store called Hastings, I'd mark as many books as possible down to $10.66.

I wrote a blog about the demise of Hastings when the liquidation was first announced. Is it weird that I'm seriously bummed about them going out of biz even though I never actually set foot in one of their stores? I was a loyal online customer for many years, however.

I picked up six more books this week, and a DVD pack with 13 movies, including a bunch of Full Moon pics from the 1990's.
I think I have just about cleaned out their history section of all the titles I wanted.  The shelves are more and more bare every time I go in.

God, I am going to miss that store SO much . . .  :bluesad: :bluesad: :bluesad:

So, yeah, just got back from ANOTHER trip to Hastings.  Now the comics are NINETY percent off with a twenty-five percent discount on top of that.  They're also doing 90 percent off on used books, CDs, and movies.  As I said before, been the buying the heck out of the comic books of late.  Today I also picked up some CDs and movies, including Cake: Fashion Nugget, The 300 Soundtrack, and Dane Cook: Retaliation.  Also bought Primer, Zombies Unbrained (12 film flesh fest), The Culling, Live Animals, Midnight Movie, I Sell The Dead, Wrong Turn 5 and This Girl is Badass.

Really not sure why I keep buying DVDs when I've got several at home I still haven't gotten around to watching.  I guess it's the same reason I keep buying a lot of the stuff there, I keep thinking, "When will I EVER get an opportunity like this again?"  Plus, as I've said before, I'm trying to get some things I can hopefully sell for a profit later on.

Feels kind of ghoulish doing this, but you know, I didn't cause the stores to close.
